Guest guest
Ok guys don't cry or at least we're not supposed to. But seriously this is about as close to a feeling of just basic everyday joy sneaking up on me that I think I could share. I was thinking of leaving work around 4pm. My kids weren't in school so I didn't have to pick them up and was staying late on a Friday just doing nothing really. I was chatting up my fellow cube prisoners. A guy I've worked with for most of the eight years I've been there was in his cube, I commented on his leather coat, then another guy popped up and said he just got one and knew we both had them so we could all hang out together. Blah blah blah we kept talking and it was all fun. I picked up the first guy's coat and commented that it was pretty nice and hefty. He started talking about how it was a great coat with a great name and how he'd bought it one of the local long time department stores years ago (it's out of business now). I asked what size it was (I have no idea why). He said, " 44 " . Well I'm wearing my father's old 46 coat (because he's to big for it now haha) and I announce, " Hey I'll bet this would fit me " The guy had started to put the coat on just as a habit and put his hands in the pockets and says, " Oh I doubt that, come on " , starts to take it off and politely hands it to me. The other guy is in the cube now showing us his new jacket. I take the 44 coat. Put it on, no problem. Zip it up, NO PROBLEM and say, " Hey this is pretty nice, I like it. " The other guy's jaw is on the floor. I'm putting my hands in the pockets, checking the length on the sleeves, sort of noticing that the gathering on the waist while higher up than my coat's longer length, is still working and yet is kind of LOOSE in a way, maybe his coat is just a little used there I say. He starts to get a little concerned and says, " Ok take it off, give me my coat back. " I say, " hmm there seems to be things in the chest pockets here, what do you have going on here buddy? " He demands, " Right, take it off now, give me my coat back, it's not yours! " While he has it now I might just accidentally wear it some day again. After all both our coats are brown and fit me fine. You can see the confusion right? At the least I'm going to have to pass by his cube on my way out Monday and say, " Wow that sure IS a nice coat man, have a good afternoon " just to make him nervous. HAHA! This guy and many of my long time co-workers, like me, probably still sometimes think of me as 5-6X. It is great having my and their world's rocked. It made my week, probably my whole damned month. Just thought I'd share a strange positive. This sort of thing means much more to me than even my precious numbers, information and statistics of workout times and weight loss amounts.
