Good. Glad to hear she is doing well. I know the holidays are a rough

time for her. Glad this year is better! She deserves it!

I guess we will have to opt for carving a canoe out of donated wood

and setting up trips for the cost of beef jerky and bottled water!

Yep. It sucks. We do good to make ends meet most of the time. He pays

a lot more than he should. Not that his girls don't deserve it. They

do; but when we can't pay the bills it's time to do something about it.

I'm lucky to get $60 a week from my ex for 1 kid. The only way I get it

is when the state takes it from his check automatically. And TN has

changed the way they figure child support to make it more fair for both

parents. They take into account both incomes (custodial & non

custodial) and how much time is spent w/ both parents.

Hi , They do the same thing here in CA and since my ex has 3 or

4 more kids I figure it won't do me any good to ask for more. For

all I know they could make it less! They have to take it from his

check too. He hasn't seen my kids ages 12& 14 in almost 11 years! It

is better that way anyways. Ok enough venting from me. Take Care,

That's so sad he hasn't seen them in that long. It's his loss! :-)

That's what suprises me about Kelsey's dad...that he's not more a part

of her life than he is. His dad left when he was just 2 mos old. He

never knew him. You'd think he'd want to be better than that. I'm not

saying he's a horrible dad; but he leaves a lot to be desired. His

biggest problem is the wives he's had. He lets them interfere w/ his

relationship w/ Kelsey. She's finally starting to see that w/ the

latest wife. I hate it for her. It's not fair to her.

Marriage and changing everything now scares me too, but I am a firm believer

that love is worth taking chances. I also believe in seperate checking accounts

and 50/50 as much as possible. That includes house cleaning hahahaha. I can

appreciate the fear of losing everything though. You spend your life trying to

make a comfortable life and then leave it for someone to take it. I couldn't

imagine doing that to someone. When I left my ex, I took what was mine when we

got together and walked and left him our house and all that was in it, including

the cars that were in both our names. I wasn't married to him, but all that

seperated us from that was a piece of paper. He worked hard for these items and

I wasn't going to do that to him, even though he was an ass. I wouldn't want

someone to do that to me. I even gave him back the rings he baught me. I told

him I knew I wouldn't ware them anymore and since he baught them, I wanted him

to do what he wanted with them. I think it is

terrible to end things fighting over material and money we can't take with us

when we die.

I agree w/ everything but the separate checking. LOL! We did that and

it was a pain! I do all the checkbook stuff & to keep my sanity we put

it into 1 account. But he does do A LOT around the house. I'm very

thankful for that. He'll vacuum. Help w/ laundry. Clean bathrooms.

Take out trash. Etc. And he's very handy. Anything needs fixing he

can usually fix it. :-) I have a great guy! I have a friend who is

always bitching about what her hubby doesn't do. They've been married

for about 8 years or so now I think. I am always telling her to kick

his ass to the curb. LOL! He doesn't do anything because she lets him

get away w/ it. And as long as she does that he'll sit on his ass doing

nothing. I stayed a few days at their house once. He wouldn't even

dress his daughter after her bath. How pathetic is that?

Yeah I see what you are saying about the checking, I guess that is something to

work out with my partner on what would be best. I am just saying I am willing to

do whatever it takes to protect BOTH of us, not just me. I love a man that is

willing to lend a hand and help where needed. I would surly show the loyalty,

after all, isn't that showing love?

$293 a month for 2 kids. That's crazy! My daughter gets $110 a week

for my grandson. How do you make ends meet?

My ex-wife gets about $1000 a month from me for our two kids and I

see them ever day except for four days each month. Half summers too.

She's also working her Fridays too which is shameful in my mind. How

do I make ends meet?!

Child support isn't so serious and theoretically benefits my kids.

That has an end date too. I'm not sure I could ever cope with idea of

alimony though.

I wish more men felt the same way about child support. It's a shame

that they don't. Like you said it benefits the kids.

THEORETICALLY it does. While I do often enjoy not having to fret

about purchasing clothing and some other things for my kids I still

end up doing it sometimes and experience frequest issues with their

clothing or other stuff being the wrong size, not where I need it or

not appropriate. These times of knowing I'm paying that much and

essentially have no control to fix the situation other than to throw

more money at it, which solves nothing permanently, can be maddening.

I know somebody that went as far as to change his social security number,

and pretty much vanish from the face of the planet in order to not pay!
