I can't tell or just don't care about the difference between fat free,

lite, regular of most things. There are different tastes of string

cheese. Maybe you just got a crappy brand. You're not saving a lot

fat/calorie wise with lower fat string cheese. Figure you chug down

three in a sitting/day you'd save maybe 60 calories and maybe 6g of

fat. Is that really so much?

You're right, Mike. And the reason I asked, is because I also got some fat free

cheddar that was awful, and then got the reg. instead, which, of course, was

good. Same for the cottage cheese. There's only 20 calories diff, and such a

diff in taste. What brand string cheese do you buy?

I get it from Costco

http://tinyurl.com/y43qt5

6g of fat

80 calories

7g of protein

Ya still gotta view full fat string cheese as sort of a snack/treat.

Not something you can really slam into at a half dozen a day or

something that you should eat all that regularly. It fine though for

some variety. It has calcium too.

I usually get the low fat Colby-Jack and the Mozzerella from Aldi's and it

is quite good. It makes a great snack and I love cheese anyhow.

My neighbor just gave me some government processed cheese she gets on

her assistance. Do you know that stuff is lowfat now too? Cool!

My theory, and it's only mine, is that why eat something that tastes

nasty when i'm eating so little of it. I get the regular string cheese

and also the cheddar cheese ones. For the amount that i'm eating, I

can't justify the nasty taste.

Yup. I used to buy multiple bags of Doritos when they were on sale

and just chow on them. Now that I don't eat as much and eat much

better I spend the same amount or more on much less and am much more

satisfied.

It impresses people a lot more, too, if you spend a lot on a little

and enjoy it rather than a little on a lot and scare them while you

consume so much.

You're so right Molly! I've never eaten small amts like this before...and

there's so little difference in calories, and so much difference in taste!

I'm not much for the fat free cheeses; but I do do the lowfat ones when

I can. I buy the Frigo string cheese. Light. The Sargento isn't bad

either; but there's more protein in the Frigo. I'm all about more

protein! :-)

I absolutely LOVE the Sargento brand of mozzarella cheese. I like it

because compared to all the others I've tried, it's saltier and to me

it tastes better. I buy the whole milk kind. The skim milk version

has no taste to in, in my opinion.

It sure is all about the protein, ! And its funny the way different

products vary so much in calories and grams of protein. Takes a little longer

to shop now that we're comparing everything on the label ; but I sure am

learning alot about protein and vitamins since I started this journey. It all

seems a little overwhelming at first, but it gets fun when you start to get a

handle on it.
