Guest guest
Hi, There: I would love to know if you are under a doctor's care, taking any meds, or if you prefer a holistic approach. How old are your children - I ask only to get an idea of your daily activities. I'm the mother of two teenage boys and they, thankfully, don't require the energy of me they did 10 years ago. I can certainly relate to feeling 81! On most days (for me)when the pain is real bad, I have to walk with a cane. Now, I'm not the kind of person to walk with a cane, but a very dear friend of mine - who thought if I had to use one, it should at least be 'unique' - made me the proud owner of a cane with a pheasant for a handle. You can see me coming a mile away! But, no one else I know has one - and it is difficult to walk with this cane in hand and not smile. Please let us know what you have already tried for your insomnia and IBS and if you prefer an Eastern or Western medical approach. I, myself, do both. My mother is the queen of natural medicine! Perhaps between everyone we can give you some suggestions to help. Just as a side note, my doctor tells me (as I suffer from horrible insomnia) that if you are not getting into the fourth hour of sleep, you are not reaching what is known as Delta sleep which is the time the body begins repairing cells, etc., and of course it makes the fibromyalgia much worse. Perhaps if you can just get some good, uninterrupted sleep, it would do wonders for you. If you'll share what you have already tried, it will indicate where to begin. Hope this finds you feeling better. With kindness, Pam > Hi there.I just joined today because I am desperate!!I am 31 year old > mother of two and a wife and I feel like 81 instead of 31.The pain I > can say I am used to but the fatigue is unbearable.I work and take > care of the kids and do Avon on the side to keep me going. Guest guest
Hello, Most of the doctors I have seen over the years do not seem eager to help me. Probably some of it is due to my quiet attitude (and guys are not supposed to complain). So, I've gone to some appointments with a cane ----- it really helps, doctors take me more seriously. Taking a friend or spouse with you is great too; a friend can tell the doctor (forcefully) what is happening with you, and can indicate what results you expect. cheers, twadders > Hi there.I just joined today because I am desperate!!I am 31 year old > mother of two and a wife and I feel like 81 instead of 31.The pain I > can say I am used to but the fatigue is unbearable.I work and take > care of the kids and do Avon on the side to keep me going. I suffer from a lot of fatigue too. There is no way I could keep your schedule up, especially on 3 hours of sleep a night! The way I tell fatigue from depression apart from plain old fatigue is that when I was depressed, I never wanted to do anything regardless of if I had energy or not. When I'm not depressed, but just plain old tired, I *want* to do things, but just don't have the energy for them. If you're feeling like you don't want to do anything regardless of energy levels, then you may have some depression there ( most of us have some, it's hard having a chronic illness all of the time). Probably the first thing you need to do is increase your sleep you get each night. Are you taking something to help you sleep? There are a lot of things to try, both alternative and prescription medicine. I find I need a lot of protein to help me keep going, so I take protein pills found at a health food store. Let us know what you've tried, and maybe we can help with ideas of things you haven't tried. Darcy
