Guest guest
Kris I was so hoping your trip would go well. I'm sorry it didn't, but horray for the speech. I know what you're going through with the speech. My Zach started saying real words in December. He's since dropped words, added words, changed words, but mostly he babbles incoherently. Yesterday I was in the van parked by my house and I was counting out loud my peony bushes that were coming up, one..two..three... zach said fowww, fifeeeee. I was floored! So I kept counting.. He knows 2, 4, 5, 9 and he's saying it before I do, so it's not echolalia although he does do that quite a bit. Still can't say mom.
Guest guest
Kris There is a book I just got from the library written by two psy. They worked with MR kids. I figured if it worked for them it can work for me. It's called Potty Training in a day. He says that even the hardest kid was trained in three days and typical kids in 4 hours. The thought is to reinforce the dry pants (training pants not pull ups) instead of the actually peeing in the potty. You spend the whole day in the bathroom talking about the potty etc etc. If you want to hear more let me know and I'll send you some info. Guest guest
I think leaving my marriage and all of the tension was a big factor in Zachari's delay. Otherwise how do you explain him using words like 3 days after we left Hawaii? > Thanks for listening. > ((((HUGS)))).........Kris Kris~ I totally agree with you...i left my girls dad a year ago, and jenna really took off after that. We did alot of yelling and there was soooo much tension. She's really a different kid now. When he comes to take her for a couple hours, she is fine with that, but when they come back to my house, she wants him to leave immediately. She doesn't like when he stays too long. (i really think she remembers all the fighting...she is 6yrs old) I hope things keep going good for you and your kids! nancy

Even his tantrums have calmed down alot. > Kris, I hate to see any marriage end because I know it's painful for all involved but I know stress can really affect our kids. was having terrible meltdowns this summer and at the start of school. We made a few changes, took the principle out of his discipline plan (she screams a lot) and changed baby sitters. That took place in December. is starting to read, and do math and can count to 100!! He's gone from not even being on a kindergarten level to a first grad level in only 3 months!! His temper trantrums are almost non-existent and the ones he does have are nothing like the start of the year. He hasn't threatened to hurt anyone or kill himself in months. He hasn't hit, kicked or shoved the other kids, me or the teachers either. :D Now I'm sure a little of this is a jump in maturity on his part but that can't account for all of it. He likes school now and is upset that this week is spring break (YUCK!). Tina
Guest guest
Kris, I was wondering if his diet had changed some prior to the changes you've seen in him. Maybe he started getting less milk? Is he drinking much milk right now or mostly other drinks? No matter what it turns out to be, it's a wonderful change! I'm just thinking if you can pinpoint it and it is diet related, you'll know to make sure he doesn't get exposed to it again! (((HUGS))) back at cha! Guest guest
> LOL Still trying to work on potty training. Zachari is just not interested in it. I say potty train he says potty train. haha You realize that with his literal mind, when you say 'potty train', he probably envisions a train full of potties? >thats all i get. his nickname lately is parrot. What gets me is when he repeats something I said 10 min. earlier. it is a trip. I am just so happy to finally hear his voice with words other than screams. Delayed echolalia! That ROCKS! Major steps, Zachari! YAY!!! Jacquie
