Guest guest
Hi Anne, I was just reviewing the Database and noticed that you are a gynecologist! I don't think I knew that before or maybe I did and " chemo brain " overruled. Anyway - I have a question for you. I was diagnosed with high-dysplasia from a PAP I had last November (almost a year ago now) and had a loop procedure done. The result of that was that was that the loop removed the pre-cancerous area but that the high-grade dysplasia remained in my cervial canal. After consulting with a gyn. oncol. we decided that I'd have a hysterectomy. But.........in prep for that - my breast cancer was discovered, diagnosed, treated, etc. and the hysterectomy was put on hold. Now, since I've completed my treatment plan, I followed up with the gyn oncol. and he did a repeat PAP which was, in his words, " clean " . I asked him if the chemo I had gotten to treat the B/C would have taken care of the dysplasia. His response was " probably not " , that A/C chemo is specifically for B/C and should not have effected the cervical area. But, he could not explain why I had a normal PAP either. In my mind, if there is a chance that the high-grade dysplasia is still there, I do want the hysterectomy. I am 48 and now in menopause anyway so........ My questions is, what would be your " take " on this? Have you ever heard of a case where chemo for B/C affected another possible cancer? My guess would be that there are not alot of studies out there about this situation, but I'd be interested to know what you think? Thanks for reading. Smiles!
