> Kris>Man, Kris--I would LOVE for either of my kids to have been 28 pounds at 2 years--but I can see the problem when she only gains 2 pounds in the next 2 years.... I am thrilled with my daughter gaining 2.5 pounds in the last 2 months--after 9 months of just sitting there, not gaining, yet not losing either. My son (adopted also--so far, non-celiac!) is almost 28 pounds. He's 2 years 4 months. He looks HUGE next to Gabby--same height but his weight just seems SO much more!

I am VERY glad Gabby's gaining weight ( & height) on the gf diet. She's also learning to help me make her bread & cookies! She will occasionally let Duncan have some of her special bread or a cookie--but she usually likes to keep them to herself! (Her logic is that Duncan has his stuff that I can't eat, why should I share MY SPECIAL stuff??!)

Hi all,

I have 2 children I nursed. My daughter was 3.5 yo and my son was 18 months when they were completely weaned.

I was only diagnosed 4 years ago and my daughter was diagnosed at the same time.

They are both taller than my husband and myself..my daughter is 5'9" and my son is 5'11".

they are also taller than anyone in our families.

I think this has a lot to do with nursing.

My daughter quit growing in 6th grade. Her last appt. she was 4'11 1/2 and she

is 16. Most the people in our families are taller. She was 17 pounds at a

year. Funny, she was 7, 10 at birth and 2 weeks early. She was also 21 1/2 "

long at birth. Her growth was very slow and stopped at age 12. She is only 110

pounds.

We even went to choc when she was 8 for her osteoporosis and sadly, it was the

worst experience we have ever had. The doctor was rude and condescending. The

best children's hospital around and I was so shocked to have been treated that

way. Her blood tests all come back tomorrow so will let you all know what they

say. I saw my hep/GI doctor on Tues, and he is running blood tests on me for

celiacs too.

I think it has nothing to do with nursing and I think trying to make

people feel guilty for their children's height, by pushing the

breastfeeding PC line, is counter-productive.

I nursed both my celiac children for over 2 years, one is tall, the

other is short and is why we did the celiac testing in the first

place. I nursed the tall one a little longer than the short one,

should I feel guilty.

I agree. And, I'm not about to be drawn into a bf vs. non bf debate.

That's not why I joined this group.
