Hi Jan,

My daughter uses the sonic boom alarm clock with the bed shaker

placed under her mattress. It works really well - although she has figured out

how

the snooze button works. You can also set it to a light in the room or a

very loud alarm. I have not tried these. I know the alarm would not work, not

sure it a flashing light would wake her up, but the bed shaker does.

Jan, I can sympathize, mine was such a hard sleeper that she wet the bed and

didn't even wake up. So mornings have been rough, though she wakes up pretty

happy generally. We have three " deaf " alarm clocks at our house. And only one

HOH person. My husband has the shake awake, but he mostly uses the beep alarm.

My HOH daughter and my hearing 19 year old both have Sonic Booms. The 19 year

old was the WORST about getting herself up in the morning and this was the only

thing that ever worked for her. Maggie, the HOH one, sets her alarm for about

an hour before she really plans to get up so it has not been that effective.

The sonic booms can do a loud buzzer, or the bed shaker or you can plug a lamp

into it and it will flash the lamp. The shake awake is tiny and you can't put

it under the mattress. in GA

You know something, I have the same problem with my 10 year old! But i have

found that jumping on the bed with him works every time!!! or just some hugs and

kisses...since i don't get to get those when he is coherent!!! lol...

I'm looking for suggestions to make our lives easier. We've looked at the

alarm clocks on-line that shake the bed or pillow.Do they really work? Are

some of them better than others? What about the sonic boom ones? Are they

just really loud?

Thanks,

Hi Jan.

I wanted to share with you a little bit. About 2 months ago (8)

discovered everyone in our house had an alarm except for her. She

wanted one too. So, I went on a search.like NOTHING wakes up

. Mornings have been a nightmare for years.

I was skeptical about whether or not the clock would work either. I

searched Communications for a month before making a decision and

asked everyone here. The wide range of prices and possibilities. I

decided to go with the Sonic Boom travel alarm with vibrator. I didn't

want to spend so much if a) it wouldn't work or B) a cheaper one would

work just as well.

Let me tell you, what a miracle for us. I am NOT kidding. This child

whom we have battled for years, wakes up and gets dressed and is ready

for the bus 30 minutes before the bus gets here instead of putting on

her shoes as she runs to the bus. It has made our life so much better

in the mornings for everyone. You know we had to take it with us on

Spring Break so Grandma and all the rest of the family and friends could

see it too. She would set it and make everyone lay on the bed until the

vibrator went off. It was too funny.

I set the audible alarm only enough for me to hear it in the morning.

That way I know when her alarm has gone off so I will be sure that she

is waking up.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth to this discussion.

Thanks Tammy. After discussing it with we went and ordered the Sonic

Boom with the light flashing option. It was quite a bit more expensive, but

we thought the light in addition to the vibrating bed might be the ticket.

I searched EBay and found it there for about $20 less than what other

'regular' places had it. Now all we have to do is wait for it to get

here.At least she is excited about it-something special for her.

Thanks again!

Jan

We thought about that one too. I think it is funny that you got from

E-bay. I searched high and low there as well. It is a good place for

the clocks.
