Diagnosed with IBC in March of this year, I have done 6 rounds of chemo and just finished 20 radiation treatments. My cancer is not estrogen sensitive, so herceptin is not an option. My doctor says that we will try another round of chemo with Taxotere in a couple of weeks as soon as I have recovered a little more from the radiation. However, I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has also had " non-estrogen sensitive " IBC and what treatments they have had and how effective were they? I have done a lot of research on the internet and it is very depressing to find that most of the successful IBC treatments involve herceptin, since I am not a candidate for that treatment. I wish everyone good luck in their cancer journey. Winnipeg, Canada ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
, To find out if you are a candidate to treatment with herceptin, you must have done the test for HER-2. Estrogen test is another one and it is treated with anti-estrogens like tamoxifen or AI. Have you done both tests? For HER-2 and for ER/PR? If you have done it ofr HER-2, was it by immunocytochemistry or FISH? ANd what were the results? I had invasive ductal so I do not kow much about inflmatory BC, but if there is something I can help with about hte test, let me know. Hugs Inflammatory cancer Hello everyone...another newbie here. Guest guest
Hi All, I spent a good portion of my day reading the memorials ob the ibc.org site. Thankful to be here daily, but it's been hard. Hi Sharon! (if you're still here) I've been away for awhile because my brain isn't working. I've been working hard on getting myself a life. I feel like I'm on the outside looking in. It's the strangest thing. {{{{love & hugs}}}} Dari
