Guest guest
Hi Kris, Welcome. Yup, sounds like you belong here! I hope your daughter hasn’t been wheat free long enough to affect the biopsy. So have you re-eliminated gluten from your own diet again so that YOU feel better?????? Laurie lbilyeu@... From: SillyYaks [mailto:SillyYaks ] On Behalf Of Kris Sent: Thursday, June 08, 2006 11:28 PM To: SillyYaks Subject: INTRO - Confused and Overwhelmed Mom Hi! Thanks for letting me join you. I'm the mom of a wonderful 4 year old who is highly suspect of having Celiac. We are currently undergoing tests with her. A month ago she had her tonsils/adenoids removed, along with a sinus lavage due to chronis sinus infections. As far as Celiac specific tests...she's already had a blood test with an extremely elevated IgG level (and high normal everything else), a positive wheat allergy(blood and skin), and were waiting till mid July or so for endoscopy. However, once her GI doctor got ahold of the blood tests, he changed his mind, and we are going in on Tuesday. Oddly enough, I had the same issues as a child that my daughter is having now. But, no one ever did anything about it. My entire life I've been plagued with skin rashes, unexplained - digestive issues, stomach pains and growls that are so loud everyone around me can here...and a whole host of other things. So, naturally, that leads me to be curious about my own possibility of gluten issues. So, anyhow... I'm going in with a good attitude. If a gluten free lifestyle helps my daughter feel better... Hooray! =) Oh, perhaps I should add... when we learned that she was allergic to wheat, we removed it from her diet...and her behavioral issues all but disappeared. Gone! And, i felt 100 times better than I normally do. Some of the fatigue was lifting, but then I started eating it again, like a dingy.... and now I'm back to square one. Anyhow, that's my story in a nutshell. =) Kris Mom of Three.... Jay (8) Bean (4) wheat/egg/peanut allergic Big Guy - will be 1 in August! Guest guest
Laurie, Once the doctor told us that 'has' to be eating gluten for the tests to be accurate, we reintroduced it and have continued to let her eat it. Right now, after eating crackers last night, she's lying on the couch with a water bottle - complaining (and crying) of a tummy ache. She can't even stand up straight. =( Yes... I've gone GF myself, again. I can't wait to feel better! Kris In SillyYaks , " Laurie Bilyeu " wrote: > Welcome. Yup, sounds like you belong here! Guest guest
Kris, I am a mom of two. An eight year old with no symptoms of CD and a just turned six year old who has suffered from horrible skin breakouts, major constipation, nausea, headaches, athsma cough, irritability and slight anemia. For a year I thought I was crazy (actually felt it because I was going through divorce) The doctors kept telling me all the test were negative and there was no problem. I actually, on five different ocasions gave her wheat again, (because they had six years of college and I only had four) and each time she suffered. I couldn't do it to her anymore an decided the doctors were the ones that were crazy because they were listening to a peice of paper not their patient. My fight was to keep her GF when at her fathers. I needed the doctors to say she had a wheat allergy or intollerance for him to do it. (Didn't matter that when she was old enough to eat adult food he would buy wheat free pasta and cookies for her because he saw how horrible her rashes were) The end result...because the test were negative he refuses to keep her GF. The doctors say because the tests are negative she is fine. I now have utter disgust for testing. (Yes of course I switched doctors many times and now my trust goes out to a chiropractor/homeopath who is the only one who has helped her. (Except enterolab stool and gene testing, were she was diagnosed with gluten intollerance and the CD gene) I take care of my child by keeping her 100%GF when with me, at school and with friends. She gets gluten every other weekend, and "time" is the only one on my side because the older she gets the better she is able to make healthy GF choices at her fathers. (fruit vs. cookie) I read your story and can see your intuition for your little guy and daughter. I hope you don't end up with the emotional garbage I did of second guessing your sanity because a peice of paper had numbers in the wrong column. I hate reading all the suffering from undiagnosed CD. Whatever the test say, please don't forget you knew your babies nine months before any one else did, and if they are doing better GF make sure you listen to your inner voice, and don't judge it like I did. I met a woman in a support group who has had countless surgeries and is on 15 different drugs a day because all the damage that was done by eating gluten 50 something years of her life. When she was finally diagnosed the damage was irreversible. She is a wonderful person and heads up the support group to warn what the future holds for a person indiagnosed CD. My daughter was nursed for three years and has eaten brown rice, lentils and all the fresh vegies and fruits from the time she could eat solid food, so her case is not so severe. If I could scream out for everyone to hear me I would say "Listen to your body" not the testing. Take care Kris and I hope the best for your family. Cheryl Kris wrote: Hi! Guest guest
Kris, I am 30 years old and my behavior issues (Severe Chronic ADHD) are very connected to my wheat consumption! Have heart and trust your instincts.... You are right about it!
