Guest guest
Hi! My cardio told me that any anticholinergic drugs are not great for the heart, but it's a case of the lesser of two evils with me personally where Benadryl or any antihistamines are concerned. (A lot of antiarrythmic drugs are not good for the heart also!). I take Benadryl (Acrivastine) nearly 3/4 of the year as I get so many allergies..though I try and reduce my exposure and only take 1 or 2 a day even in the high season (3 a day is usual dose). It seems to be the only drug that works for me at the moment for allergies, though I believe that the non sedating newer types of antihistamines (like Benadryl) are worse for heart rythmn than the 'older' type of antihistamine that make you slighlty more drowsy..having said that..they gave me piriton at the hospital when I was in for my tests and my heart never hit a normal rythmn after I had taken it..so its horses for courses I guess! I dont find a problem myself with Afib Benadryl..at least not that I know about.
