I think some of you took my statement wrong or maybe not...i appreciate and

welcome as i said that its good that cancer research and awareness is in the

forefront but i leave the house to stop these tears put my mind elsewhere and it

just happens to be the pink month...its so fresh in my mind having the diagnose

surgery and treatments all this past month so i guess im a bit touchy. There are

many people i know personally becuz of cancer hitting hard in their homes they

have become researchers and work tirelessly to find some type of reasoning as to

why this disease occurs which they have said is like an alien but is becoming

clearer as time goes on. I spoke with one of the researchers and friends who are

fund raisers and they too said it must be hard to have a constant reminder when

you turn on the tv..drive..etc etc. I also concur with the thought if someone is

compelled to get a mammogram becuz of all this bombardment of adds and so forth

that would be a wonderful thing

and certainly worth all my buckets of tears. Hugs to those who are having a

hard time and also to those who have finished and are on the road to recovery.

take care kassy

cancers and help figure out why some cells mutate and turn into

cancer while others that mutate do not.

This will help with more specific treatments for a particular genetic

type of cancer.

Thank goodness for the research and all the amazing people working to

find a cure.

I'm sorry if I came out as anti-BC-awareness. I didn't mean to put down the

people who put loads of effort into raising awareness, getting more

mammograms, raising more money for research. More power to their elbows.

It's just that some people, companies, etc, I've come across seem to wear a

pink ribbon without thinking what it's all about. 8-(

Sorry but they were denied at one race that I know for sure. I certainly would

NOT make something like that up. They wanted just the ladies doing the survivor

walk. I know this for a FACT!!

Well, my friend Craig of Aspen Colorado is the one who wanted to join

in and was denied. This used to be the case. You can contact Komen foundation

and ask them. Sad but absolutely true.

I am not sure what state it was that Komen refused to let the men walk but as I

said before I heard it from a Komen Affiliate president so unless she was lying,

it was true as of that time.

Thanks ,

At the time I was founding out everything I was looking to know about this

disease, the options etc.. I did more reading online and in books about

treatments and health, that left little time for " chats " . I could have used

this group during my ordeal. I kept wanting to join one but there weren't any

in my area and the ones sort of close were all at bad times for me, just after

chemo for example. I know there are women out there younger than me but I

didn't know how to find them, so thank you. The critical part about being my

age is I am on the cusp. If I had known the first time I found the lump it was

cancer, I was only 31, (it was about the size of a grape or a little bigger) it

wouldn't be such an issue. My body would have more time to bounce back. But

having been 35, plus having to wait a couple of years after chemo and then hope

I have any eggs and my periods of course exist. My neighbor had cancer at 28,

and had 2 healthy children later. Unfortunately I

don't have that cushion of years. I guess I could do it in my 40's but that

seems old to have kids, they require so much energy. It's okay though, whatever

happens happens. I'm okay with that. It would be nice to have someone who

understands what that feels like though. Maybe I'm in the wrong group? I'll

check it out! K

WOW!!! That's so cool!!! I did not know that, of course one of you ladies

would though! That makes me feel better because I have wondered about our men

BC survivors. Thanks for the uplifting facts... K

Elaine wrote: ---Did you know that there is a

cancer surviors? It is half pink and half blue. I was on a Delta

airplane the first weekend of October, and Delta is doing a special

breast cancer awareness promotion this month. Not only are they

selling pink lemonade and pink martinis (with all proceeds going to

Breast Cancer research), but the flight attendants are wearing

special tee shirts. On my flight from Hartford CT, one of the flight

attendants was a 2 time breast cancer survivor, and he was a man. He

was wearing a gray survivor teeshirt, made especially for male bc

survivors. I was wearing a breast cancer awareness shirt, and we

complimented each other on our choice of apparel.

Then, at the Komen race I recently did in St. Pete FL, I saw a man

wearing a Komen Race for the Cure Survivor shirt, they look just like

the pink ones we ladies wear, but are gray.

It is so nice to see that men breast cancer patients/survivors are

being encouraged to go public about their experiences, and not be

left out because they aren't women.

Here's to all BC surivors...Men and Women.....

Hi M. Laetrile(sp), isn't this the one who's company owner was recently sent to

prison for 63 months, for 1, selling a product claiming a cure ~ being warned

not to sell it with this claim and 2, carried on selling it as a cure anyway,

completely ignoring the directive? This is in the last few days, I believe I

read it on the yahoo news site. Velvet

There actually are a lot of other treatments that address just this. You need to

do research, the information is out there. I personally know 3 people who fought

cancer without chemo or drugs and they are cancer free. You have to change your

lifestyle and most people are too intimidated by the doctors, don't know enough

about the options or are too lazy to change themselves. It's a very different

lifestyle than most people in the western world live. People love their junk

food, suger, salt, etc...
