Sorry to read of your tragic sudden loss!

May I suggest that in the hustle-bustle of the stream of visitors

that you might have been cross-contaminated?

Feel better soon!

Major stress is actually what triggered my Celiac (before knowing I had it.) I've been gluten free for 4 months now. So far, stress hasn't made thing worse than they are... physically. From what I understand, everyone is different.? Cheryl A question for you all... Have any of you suffered from leaky gut, or other CD symptom during times of stress? Its the only CD symptom I am experiencing right now, and KNOW I havent ingested any gluten. All I can think of is stress. DH had his shift change

at work to 12 on and 12 off for 8 days, (overnight of course) so my whole schedule got messed up. My brother in law in the states passed away suddenly last week (he was young and in great shape so it was a shock), and I have had a constant stream of unwanted company for a week, all staying here for various lenghts of time creating general chaos along with an inordinate amount of cooking, cleaning, dishes and laundry. Its not terribly leaky, just a little bit that pools in my left foot. (a normal symptom for me) Otherwise, I feel good.Just wondering if anyone else has experienced CD symptoms without being glutened?Best!CassiGluten free in downtown Imatra!

I originally thought of the CC issue, however, I have been doing all the cooking. The way I look at it now, this is my home, Im cooking GF so if you want something with gluten, go out and eat! Im getting a fuzz selfish with my disease, but like my hubby says, its your kitchen, you do as you please! Much better than being sick!Prior to DX in January of this year, we had what I affectionately call the "houseguest from hell". I experienced what I know know are symptoms, but didnt know at the time (early 2005). As my best friend says, its best to go home when people still want you to stay, that way you will be invited back! LOL! My poor dog is stressed too... He just wants to go hide under my bed or out in his secret hiding place outside. (normally, he is very social)Thanks again!Best!Cassi

I was thinking more like your constant stream of houseguests were

carelessly snacking and you didn't notice it. Like someone else's

story about the bread crumbs falling into the silverware drawer.

It only takes a bit to make me sick again. Sometimes I can't even

tell where the gluten was hiding, the amount is so small. If your

kitchen is GF then they'd have to be bringing gluten goblins in from

somewhere else.

I'm at a loss.

But I guess it wouldn't surprise me that stress would trigger

a relapse of some sort. After all, stress does all kinds of wacky

things to all sorts of people day in and day out: ulcers, hair

falling out, rash, high blood pressure, and on and on. I can't

see why it wouldn't wreak havoc with your digestion. Or even

simply mimic the symptoms of a bad gluten relapse. Our bodies

are in a compromised situation for a long time post-diagnosis.

The amount of healing to be done is equal to the amount of

damage that had been done. So, I wouldn't be surprised if stress

didn't slow down, or even reverse, some healing - even without

the actual presence of gluten to trigger it.

Get well!

And hugs to you. I'm off to a wake today and don't feel like

dealing with the world.

Not to mention that it's pouring rain and severe weather alert

and high winds... yadda, yadda. Well, my mom always said " Blessed

are the dead it rains upon. " She must be sainted already in that

case!
