Guest guest
I hope to meet people in the chat room some day 9:00 EST is 8:00 here right in the middle of bedtime routines and I also still have to redo my membership to the group since I can not get on the website now. I have to go. Janelle has been so sick the past few days. She vomited a couple times a lot of coughing and slight fever. Her blood sugars are stable so far. The ped is threatening to admit if she starts to get worse. We are trying to stay off the steroids for this episode since she is still recovering from cleft palate surgery and we do not want to impede her healing. Thanks for listening. -- Jovanovich ****Please note - our NEW e-mail address laura@... Guest guest
HI Jodi Janelle is in the hospital. We went to the closet hospital to have a chest x-ray done and intended on going to the ped office to discuss the results and possibly admit. WELL...we never made it to the ped office and my pediatrician arranged for ambulance transfer after being seen in the emergency room. The x-ray showed a bad case of pneumonia and a HERNIA. I saw the radiograph and could not believe it!! I know the paraesophogeal hernia was repaired in NY because we had so many tests done post surgery and everything was fine. She had a fever of 102 when we got to the hospital and while in the emergency room it went to 104 and after a long while of having an IV line put in her arm and oh, yeah her heart rate was 240 per minute. We were just about done at hospital#1 and getting ready to transfer to a hospital close by that has a PICU and Janelle had been treated for pneumonia there before and they did a great job (that's was the reasoning for not going to Loyola at the time it is further too) Anyway Janelle starts to seize and continued to seize. They ended up giving her anti seizure medication and then intubating her to protect her airway because the seizure medicine interferes with the breathing mechanism some how. We got to hospital #2 and not only does she have a hernia the intubation was written up as traumatic. She just had cleft palate surgery 12/26 and her tissue was written up as extremely fragile. Who knows what it looks like now. I know her IV failed while they were doing it and they stuck a needle right through her bone into her bone marrow to continue with the fluids... The poor little thing!! Oh and she has lost a pound too. They are thinking about doing emergency surgery, as I type ,thinking that maybe the hernia is in some way contributing to this high fever. I will hear more soon I am sure. I am so very tired I think I will go collapse for a while. Thanks for listening. -- Jovanovich ****Please note - our NEW e-mail address laura@... Guest guest
, WOW!! So sorry to hear that Janelle is going through this. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and with the physicians and nurses attending to her so that they will make good decisions to help Janelle get better without unnecessary stress to her. Please get all the rest you can and hang in there. Re: chat to Resent-From: laura@... Resent-To: bugwilder@... Guest guest
Joyce, Every other Thursday we have a phone chat! You can call into the toll free number that Leanne gave, pop in the pin code and you'll be talking to some of the folks who post here on the board. It's always nice to hear each others voices and get to actually speak to each other instead of just the written messages on the board. Some weeks there are more of us on the chat than others but it's always fun Please call in and join us!!
