Re: Torn on Decision

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to tell everyone thanks for their input and to update you. Like almost

all of you,

after agonizing over the decision, we decided to move forward and band our

daughter.

Although I'm sad she'll have to wear a helmet for a few months (and I'll have to

endure

some ignorance and overcome my own insecurities with the helmet issue), we

decided it

was well worth it in the end. I realized my reasoning for not banding her was

more worry

about what people would say/think about my child with a helmet on, rather than

what she

might endure later herself with a misshaped head. I'm a little embarrassed to

admit that,

but it's true. I was also worried that my husband would not be on board, but I

related it to

her probably needing braces later on in life -- we wouldn't think twice about

straightening her teeth, so why would we think twice about rounding out her

head? With

your help and advice (especially to my fellow KC mom - thanks!), I feel

confident that I'm

doing what's best for my daughter. And she will have cute little symmetrical pig

tails

before I know it!
