Just out of curiosity Georgia, where in tarmaccy old Surrey are you? Anywhere near Woking? And to stick to the subject, I had DS in Aug 99, 2 weeks late, raging summer and feeling like a roasted pig. but boy it felt good to get that baby out! I advised Dsis to avoid summer babies like the plague after that, but she is now due 10th June, and suddenly went into a panic when her ankles swelled last week and the midwife wrote Severe Odema all over her notes! Oh and she has to have the wedding ring cut off. Kirsten

Oh and she has to have the wedding ring cut > off. Kirsten I had to take my wedding ring off couple of days ago - for fear of having to have it cut off I love my pregnant body but going from being a size 10-12 to having really bloated feet, ankles, legs and hands is awful, I hope it doesn't sound vain but I find it so ugly and it is painful as well. What advice has your Dsis has been given about the Oedema as the advice I was given last pregnancy was c**p and purely consisted of 'put your feet up'! I've been researching this time and have found the following to help: - drinking lots of water helps - sleeping with feet up on a pillow - sitting with legs elevated against a wall couple of times a day (or yoga positions) - increasing potassium in diet: bananas, dried apricots and avocados are good sources, it's possible to use supplements but potassium tablets are too exotic for Asda so I haven't found them yet! - swimming Anyone with any other ideas/tips?? I spent all day stripping wall paper off the lounge wall, quite happily and when I proudly showed Adam what I'd been doing all day , all he could do was shriek and point at my Feet, (Which obviously I couldnt see, under my astounding girth, (in fact I probably didn't see them for about 6 months in total, and when I finally did the state of my toes made me cringe to think some MW had sat and stared at them while I was busy pushing the boys out!! cringe, cringe..) Thing is I've got middlin bad reflux so need to keep , my head higher than my stomach , The baby likes to lie transverse, so I'm tring to keep my pelvis lower than my stomach, and if I start putting my feet up a wall as well, I'll be completely contorted!! :0)))))) Now, thats the sort of problem that I find DH, or should I say DPartner ?/ DL (Lover?) will just look at me completely blankly over!! Georgia. and Adam, Francis age 5, age 5, and big lump due Aug.

Guest guest
Hi Georgia > the state of my toes made me cringe to think some MW had sat and stared at > them while I was busy pushing the boys out!! cringe, cringe..) LOL I remember thinking exactly the same thing when I saw the state of my feet, ankles and legs and it didn't help when MWs visited me postnatally and said " oh dear you are swollen aren't you " as if they hadn't noticed when I was pregnant?! Best thing was getting *my* body without the fluid back and 'bumping' into a MW who could not believe how well I looked, I walked away thinking " well that's because you had not idea what I looked like before I puffed up like a b***y balloon! " . They just did not seem to appreciate how swollen I was until after baby. > Thing is I've got middlin bad reflux so need to keep , my head higher > than my stomach , The baby likes to lie transverse, so I'm tring to > keep my pelvis lower than my stomach, and if I start putting my feet > up a wall as well, I'll be completely contorted!! > :0)))))) > Now, thats the sort of problem that I find DH, or should I say > DPartner ?/ DL (Lover?) will just look at me completely blankly over!!
