Haha, E, you just crack me up! I needed my laugh for the day, and this is it! Fire Breathing Dragon----hahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I had GERD so bad that it turned into an ache instead of a burn, it just wasn't funny. I don't have it anymore, even though I know that I'm still not optimal on my thyroid meds. That was a couple of yrs ago. When I did some changes there (though I'm not quite on that same regimen anymore--more T4 than Armour), it went away, within a matter of a couple of months. To me, it's just more hypo-affected muscle tissue, so evidently I did not yet have the permanent damage from it. Every time I'd go to bend over one of the beds at the nursing home, this burning ache would just make me want to vomit. That went on for 2 or 3 months before I started taking all that Pepcid AC. The Pepsid AC is how I got the Folic Acid deficiency, as I stayed on it for about 6 to 8 months or so. I personally think that that's why the manufacturers tell you not to stay on these inhibitors for more than about 3 months, because they already know that you will develop a nutritional deficiency (malabsorption) from it, from not absorbing the nutrients with your natural stomach acid. Have you tried the cidar vinegar thing yet?

, do you mind telling me what our doses of T4 and Armour are now and how long you've been on it? I know my situation will be different, but I'm still waiting to hear from someone doing well on a mix of the two... Judy

When I did some changes there (though I'm not quite on that same regimen anymore--more T4 than Armour.

Right now, I'm trying to titrate to 137.5 mcgs of Eltroxin, along with 30 mgs of Armour. The 30 mgs of Armour I haven't changed in awhile now, just the T4 amts. I'm thinking that this very hot weather makes me not need as much of either, but then I've heard here and there that some people don't have that weather change thing. Anyway, I've tried a full regimen of Armour, but my pulse rate went up to 160, after I'd been on 120 mgs (2 grains for over 3 months or so), even after slowly titrating it upwards for a yr or so, VERY slowly, I might add. At that point, it seemed that my body had either "caught up" or been heavily sensitized to the higher ratio of T3 in Armour to T4. This is my best guess, as I've not been able to tolerate all or only Armour for quite some time now. Also, I notice (like Jan), that I must have a little higher amt of T4, in order to feel warm, with no sensation of a block of ice in my body at all times. I won't say that I feel well, but so much better than I did a couple of yrs ago. I believe that I may have prolonged problems of adrenal fatigue, and, at this point in time, much more problems with waning female hormones, even the estrogens, but I haven't done anything about this yet, for a long time now (money), except for progesterone cream. We do now have insurance at my workplace, but it has that preexisting condition thing (one yr) attached to it, so I've simply been keeping my eyes and ears open, waiting for around about January to February or so, but we'll see. I put one of my co-workers onto the lady doctor in Sugarland, and I've been sitting back listening to what all she's doing for her, but it's been going slow. I kept telling my coworker that I thought she may have adrenal fatigue, from her describing (and me knowing) everything that's happened to her over the yrs, plus her recent battery of illnesses. Sure enough, she does have low cortisol, even by morning blood testing standards, plus screwed up liver enzymes. This doctor did raise her thyroid med a couple of months ago and wants her back in there for testing and more treatment, but my coworker is the one who is not quite responding to this. Her husband's insurance doesn't seem to want to pay when they are supposed to. Anyway, I've got my eye of this doctor for my own treatment in the future, but I'm watching what protocol she is going to use with my coworker first.
