I can't take them in the hard pill form. Only powder or liquid. I don't

absorb the hard pills.

I'm also wondering how well my lousy digestive system is handling these

hard horse pills, but I could not find any caps so I guess that's how they

have to combine mag with glycinate. I'm also injecting mag with B-12

and calcium 2x/week now on my new doc's orders - they call it a BMAG pack.

Thanks,

I keep switching trying to find one I like. I think I will end up with

magnesium oil, but for now I used a combo of Vit D, Calcium and Mag MRM

brand liquid and an NSI powdered capsule of Mag from Vitacost. I do the

extra since the ratio of calc to mag in the liquid is 2:1 and I need more

Mag.

Honestly though, I still down have the mag where I would like it so I keep

looking for new ones to try. The liquid I like except for the added fillers.

The pill isn't quite as effective.

I liked what two other people posted about mag oil and those mag chloride

flakes so when I can afford it I am going to order both and try them out.

I suspect that I am the same, but I can't find mag/glycinate in any

other form than these huge caps. I guess that I could try crushing

them and mixing in water? I called my top doc's office today and they

said to take as much as I can take, at night, up to bowel tolerance,

so basically until it gives me diarrhea and then back off.

If you can't absorb it taking more won't help. Why must it be glycinate? I

would think with a digestive compromised person that you want to get the

most absorbable form and if it is a hard pill, no matter how absorbable the

type of mag is, it will be difficult to get the benefit. Crushing to a

powder would be better if you have the time to do that. You can also get

glycinate in powdered capsule form (might cost more).

I've gotten something like this before, they are expensive.

My doc told me after finding out Im severely low in mag to try milk of

magnesia, start with a little bit and add until cannot tolerate anymore

(aka diareah).

I've never seen powder or any other liquid mag, let me know of a site,

if anyone knows a good trusted brand,

Natural Calm is a great form of magnesium and especially helpful to those with

gut

problems. It's a powder that you mix with hot water and drink. The rasberry

lemon flavor

is my favorite. This is the form I used when I first found out I was low in

mag. It works

great. I still use sometimes, just not every night like I used to. It works

great to help you

sleep also. Vitacost usually has good prices on it.

The most absorbable form of magnesium I know of is

" Natural Calm " powder. It's magnesium citrate and you mix it with very hot

water and then put a little cold to cool it off and drink it.

..... I've read the 'to bowel tolerance' method with taking

magnesium. Long before I experience an issue THERE I get scary

erratic heart beats from too much mag. My heart will slow and then

pound and then speed up and back all over again. Just wanted to

mention this as the bowel tolerance is expected to come first as an

excess sign, but doesn't always.

I agree. I was taking lots of magnesium citrate a couple of years ago and

had the toxic metals test done by Metametrics. Everything was VERY low

except I had toxic levels of magnesium and selenium. I, too, was having

erratic heart beats but did not realize why. I was taking more than one

supplement with selenium so I figured that out.

Now I never take over 400 mg magnesium.

Delores......

Took me a bit to figure out too. Funny, I also suspected the selenium

from too many supplement sources. Did you see this great article on

the cal/mag ratio?

http://www.ithyroid.com/ca_and_mg.htm

It's scary to realize your heart of so relaxed from the mag that it

can't contract to make a beat very well and gets sloppy. Then

adrenaline shoots in with me in alarm mode. I've been having weird

erratic hear stuff that I thought was hypo and then too much selenium,

so I increased my mag.......
