Guest guest
Does anyone know where to find legal definitions for an SLP or TOD? I did a search for them, thinking that perhaps if there was a legal definition, the services intended to be provided by each might be more clear. I have had little luck finding a definition for a TOD. I did find a copy of the NY State licensing exam TODs must take to work here. But nothing that defines what a TOD is or does. Plenty of case law about teaching deaf students and all that, but I haven't found a definition. This looks like a useful site, although I'll admit to finding it a bit overwhelming. This is the definition of SLP per NY law, but it came up when I searched for a definition of a TOD. The licensing requirements are also at this site. _FindLaw for Legal Professionals - Case Law, Federal and State Resources, Forms, and Code_ (http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/nycodes/c30/a147.html) ARTICLE 159 S 8201. Definition of practice of speech-language pathology. The practice of the profession of speech-language pathology shall mean the application of principles, methods and procedures of measurement, prediction, non-medical diagnosis, testing, counselling, consultation, rehabilitation and instruction related to the development and disorders of speech, voice, swallowing, and/or language for the purpose of preventing, ameliorating or modifying such disorder conditions in individuals and/or groups of individuals.
