Guest guest
my vote as a nurse and a mother and a women is circumcise always! its cleaner, more attractive, their partners in life have fewer yeast infections and the transfer of infection is greatly decreased. germs thrive in warm, dark moist area's uncircumcised penis' is a prime spot! apryl
Guest guest
My son was born in Germany and they don't do them there until the child is old enough to be put under general anesthesia (that's what my German ob/gyn told me anyway) so he wasn't done until he was 2 weeks old and I could get him into the American medical clinic. They did him the " old fashioned way " (no plasti-bell for him) and both my husband and I were there for the whole thing. It was harder on me I think then my son! I gave him tylenol (per doctor's orders) 30 mintues prior, and I am not convinced that it bothered him at all. As soon as they let us pick him up from the " body board " that they have him strapped to, he started to calm down. We had him done for the standard reasons. Cleanliness, cancer risk, " looking like Daddy " .... and I am glad that I did. Just my opinion though.... www.mcnutts.net AIM: FormerFrascotti Yahoo: ChowdaChik MSN: rebecca@... Guest guest
I wasn't sure about what I wanted to do with our son concerning the circumcising, but leaned more towards not having it done. Then my husband was totally for it. Mostly, he wanted our son to look like him and was pretty much adamant on it. Turns out now 4.5 years later, we take our son to the urologist for a totally different problem and the urologist says, " your son is circumcised, right? " He said that it looked like it had been done, but not that far back. He said there was no need to go back any further now, since mostly it's an aestetic thing, if it's not part of your religeon. What makes me upset is that I had wanted to be there in the hospital when they did it and they kept telling me they would let me. I kept calling the nursery and they kept saying, we aren't ready yet. Finally, I waited another 1/2 hour and when I called again, they said " oh, it's all done, we'll bring him down to you, he's fine. " WHAT!! I was so livid. I had wanted to be there so I could hold him as soon as it was done. They deprived both me and my son of that moment. I have no clue who did the procedure, had no time to ask questions and was really mad. We don't know at this point if it's a boy or girl, but I tell you, if we have a son again I am going to make sure that I ask tons of questions before and that I am right in their face before they perform the procedure. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me! Muah! Guest guest
I agree with Shoshannah, I have heard it to be an incredibly painful recovery for adult males after circumcisian.
Guest guest
My husband was in the nursery during the circumcisian at a disharge class, but not with him. My OB performs the circ's where as my Ped. does not.
Guest guest
> My husband and I chose to have our son circumcised because my husband is, this way he looks like his daddy. I also had never seen an uncircumcised penis until my son was born so I was more comfortable with having it done. My son is almost 3 years old now and he is able to clean his penis with no problems in the bathtub, an uncircumsized penis requires moving the skin back to clean throughly and I am not sure if he would be able to do that but you never know. Just do whatever makes you most comfortable and goes along with your beliefs! You can't make a wrong choice on this one. Good Luck. Oh, don't worry about if it will hurt him, it is very fast and my son didn't show any signs of being uncomfortable afterwards, not even when I changed his diapers. Guest guest
That is why in my Birth Plan that I had w/ Kendra (5/23/02) and with this one (edd 1/9/04), the Birth Plan clearly states for the baby to room w/ me 24/7. Following the birth of Kendra, they did not take her to the nursery to clean her and do all the required newborn procedures, instead as stated in my Birth Plan, they did it all in the delivery room. When they came to get her the next day for the mandatory (CO mandated) hearing test, Dh rolled her down the hall to the room and stayed with her the entire time. If your baby is fine, request 24 hour rooming w/ mom ... this prevents any procedure from occurring without your knowledge. ~ BabyCopia ~ Unique and Original Baby Products www.babycopia.com Re: Question to Moms with Sons.... Guest guest
Tammy, my hubby and I just started debating on this. We are both unsure as to what would be best. There is nothing religous that is going to affect our decision either. Maybe we'll wait until the last minute to decide. Good luck to you on your decision.
