Guest guest
Cy, I was surprised when did the pred pulse 3x week. My neph told me they could only be done every 6-8 weeks. I am just wondering about my sons tx. I know he doesn't expect his protein numbers to diminish the way we would all like it to. was on imuran for 3 months as well. There's a kid on NephKids with FSGS who has gone that route - if you have questions, you might want to check on that list. was first treated with cyclosporine, which did a great job getting the urine protein under control - almost immediately. went from a protein:creatinine ratio of 6.0 to about 2.5 in less than a week. Unfortunately, the cyclo didn't touch other aspects of the disease so we went the pred pulse route (three times/week for two weeks) followed by 60 mg EOD and 1000 mg Cellcept (mycophenylate mofitil) twice a day. It took about 2 months after the start of the pred pulses for the urine protein to hit bottom - where it's stayed for almost two years. Presently, he's off pred and still on cellcept. Urine protein has been creeping back up lately - but nothing like it used to be. Other treatment includes 20 mg lisinopril & 10 mg norvasc, both twice a day. The docs anticipate more pred pulses when the proteinuria gets out of control.
