Guest guest
Sam, It has been my impression that the doctors based round Professor O'Brien don't think much of the net sites because I mentioned ozband to him last December and his comment went something like this "if it's the one I found the other night it is full of rubbish." I believe that doctor's in other states have mixed feelings about groups. Can other bandits please comment. Guest guest
Ken, I was originally 'banded' by Fielding in Brisbane 3 years ago,but due to distance for fills etc (I live on Sunshine Coast) I discovered Dr. Ian Baxter at Buderim & have been seing him since November last year. Ian is one of the great supporters of 'bandster' meetings/support groups etc & I feel very lucky in finding someone like him. Another bonus is a clinic day held every 3 months at Ian's rooms with himself, the Dietician & Physiotherapist in attendance. All 'bandsters' are contacted with the date & times of attendance & we trot along & go from room to room like tubby little sheep. (well, some of is are still tubby little sheep anyway!!) It's a great day! I am of the impression that Ian is pretty special in his thinking about all this as it appears most of the surgeons have that negative attitude about us all needing each others support. Have a nice day. Guest guest
Dear Ken and Liz, I completely agree with you. I found this site out of desperation for information and have gained so much support and understanding about this devise they put inside my body. What frustrates me (I know I've said this before)is that I KNOW that there are people in FNQ who have been banded, but possibly because of not being encouraged to have support groups, they are on their own as well, Gabby _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

Guest guest
As for the site containing " rubbish " ....jeeeesus! How bloody condescending! Liz, Couldn't agree with you more. From this site I've learned, amongst other things, what are FM shoes/boots, and what a french and brazilian wax is and I feel more informed for it. And, I am not being facetious. Apart form the above I have learned a huge amount about the band from everyone's tales. I have find the site extremely informative and I will go to my surgeon armed with a list of questions which have resulted from postings to the site. I thank you all. Best wishes to everyone Jo (Orange)

Guest guest
Hi Vicky I got it at 11.50 and 55seconds! My emails have just started speeding up again. I have been reliably informed that it has to do with the Nimda virus and should be fixed in about a week, but probably not before. Do you have Outlook express? If so, apparently it helps to close the preview window. I haven't closed my outlook window and it seems that the emails are improving anyway so maybe it's a matter of waiting it out! Bye for now Bev. Guest guest
Go Liz!!! Maybe we need to commence group action for defamation of character? (lol) Only the inexperienced would challenge something the experienced find advantageous. No person can deny another persons experience. How dare the skinny one make such claims without having even tried on my moccasins! I have learned more from the info here than I did out of the grey booklet. I am certainly more well informed than most of the Doctors I come into contact with here in the ACT and had I not found the group, I would be completely alone. I still haven't found any Canberra people who have had the band done. Maybe they don't have access to the net?? I would have found this experience quite negative had I not found the site and had some visitors while in Melbourne. Oh dear ... you can't live without 'em! Well 'ranted' Liz Beverlee. Guest guest
I know if it hadn't been for having this support group site I probably would not have heard encouraging words (in the US) and I wouldn't have considered making an appointment to have it done. Guest guest
Hi Guys, When I went to see Mr. Skinner he asked me if I had any questions and I said I did have some but I had them all answered on the Ozband Site. I suppose that was not good for his ego but it was true, not that that is anything against him because I think he is great and he said he didn't know of this support group.
