Guest guest
Hi, I hope the below email isn't a repeat. I sent this on Tuesday night and didn't receive it in my emails, I would really hate for everyone to think I was un-appreciative of the responses I received, so again Thankyou.. (if it is just ignore) Cheers Amy Mac Thanks to all for your words of encouragement and support, I really appreciate it... Grace - Part of my reason for making the decision is based on the fact that I want to really live the rest of my life instead of just surviving it. The Band was really succesful for me during the first 10 months and I got a taste, for the first time, of what is was like to live without food controlling me and I don't want to go back....... Grace as scared as I am in having this surgery I do belive it's my only choice left. Any questions you want to ask me after my surgery go right ahead if it helps you make YOUR decision.. (same goes for anyone else who is interested).. Tracey, Think of all the good tricks you will learn about how to cope post op with this surgery by having others go before you...I know 9 months seems like an enternity but hang in there... Dianne - Who knows, if I feel as good as Cath after the surgery (here's hoping) then maybe they will let me out for four hours to attend the meeting... , Jo & Cath... If it wasn't for you three paving the way for the switch surgery and sharing your post op experiences with all of us (showing how successful it can be) , I would have probably just had the band removed and started the roller coaster ride of dieting again ..... I've always been scared of surgery and don't belive I would have been brave enough to do this without knowing the 3 of you THANKYOU... AND Thanks to for starting the Australian Support Group, it makes so much difference being able to share experiences face to face).. I will make it one of my priorites to keep the group posted on my recovery for those who are interested.... Cheers and again Thanks... Guest guest
Note: forwarded message attached. Yahoo! Travel - Got itchy feet? Get inspired! Dear Lynda Thanks for your advice, I get worried about the amount I need to eat as of tomorrow. You seem to be able to handle the extra food. As tonights last supper is tomatoe soup I really find it satisfying. I have been told I have to work my milk intake up to 1/2 litre a day (inc yogurt etc.) Please keep up the contact as I appreciate it Thanks Sam ----- Original Message ----- From: Lynda sen To: Sam2k@... Sent: Tuesday, October 02, 2001 10:37 PM Hi Sam, Congratulations on your weight loss. Thats great. I 've been reading what some peolple eat post band during the normal course of a day and some people's diets are definately 'scary'! I think that to be healthy you must be really careful about what you eat. My dietician really stressed that for good, consistant weight loss with the band, you really need to eat often. My normal day is two weetbix, 2 hours later 1 cup of skim milk with a tablespoon of sustegen, 2 hours later a muffin, 2 hours later a slice of lowfat lasagna with silverbeet, 2 hours later (preferably B4 3pm) a small can of fruit. 2 hours later another milk drink made into a milkshake with a banana and another tablespoon of sustegen. Dinner, 2 hours later, is meat and veges (no carbohydrates), supper is a yoghurt! Thats a lot of food! Also I have a supravim multivitamin and a megafolate tablet at breakfast. I drink 2 glasses of fibrogel (an orange fibre drink to keep me 'going' and try (not always successfully) to drink as much water as I can during the day. I walk to work (5km return) and am on my feet all day as a radiographer so I need to keep up my energy levels and so far have been fine. I hope this helps. Lynda Banded 7/9/01 @103.5 now 92- Yahoo! Guest guest
Judy, I just wanted to let you know that the Prof obviously loves you! I was in at the Alfred about 1 week ago (getting some fill put back in) and while waiting for , the Prof rang in from America, so, of course, I couldn't help ear wigging. He asked about the weather, the Melbourne Cup and who won, and then, you! I knew it was you because the receptionist said " Yes, she was operated on in the middle of the night by Stuart (Skinner I presume). Then, in response to another question from him she replied that you were fine and feeling much better. I just thought that was so nice that he asked specifically after you (and only you by the way!). Love, Liz. Thanks Thankyou everyone who responded to my questions, and yes it is getting better and the physio has done wonders for my back am going to try going to work in the morning as I think the pain will go soon. Keep enjoying your bands, and losing what you wish. Judy ozband website: http://www.ozband.com

Guest guest
<< And one last thing (for now), what resources did you use to learn sign language? Classes? Books? >> Lili, Check with your Early Education program or through your school district. They offer free classes or resources. Here in California they make home visits till the child reaches 3 years old, then they go to preschool classes. They also offer free sign language classes for parents. I'm not sure that anyone has a definate answer to the retirement of Dr. Brent or Dr. J. You are VERY fortunate to be so near Dr. J. Guest guest
Lili, I also have enrolled in our county's Early Intervention program. Their is a lady that comes out bi-weekly to see us and offer help with sign language. I also just enrolled in a ASL class...mainly because I've been intrigued by sign, not that I think it's going to be a necessity to communicate with . The sign language teacher told me about a great book and video "Sign with your baby" by ph . I was able to get it from our library. Amazon also has the set and if you can't get it from your library, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. I've found it extremely helpful. It is a comfort knowing that there are others out there who have experienced the same emotions that we're having now.I have an appointment to see Dr. Jahrsdoerfer (ENT) at UVA. However, from reading the previously posted messages, I'm starting to worry that he is retiring??? Is he planning on retiring? Does anyone know his plans? And has anyone heard of Dr. Sismanis (MCV)? Do you know of any other ENTs who specialize in bilateral atresia? And as for Plastics, is Dr. Brent retiring? If so, who would you all recommend? And did you bring your child to the plastic surgeon while he/she was an infant? Or can you wait until he/she reaches 5 years old (when the surgeries are recommended)? And one last thing (for now), what resources did you use to learn sign language? Classes?
