Guest guest
Hi Cheryl I am a felow Sick Kids person - hopefully you will get good feedback from the orthotist at Sick Kids. My son is now 10 months old but he got his helmet at 9 months. We were a little late to the game because our Ped (who I love) was reluctant saying it was mild. At our 9 month appointment, she changed her words to borderline - we were at Sick Kids a few days later and had a helmet one week later. The results in the past six weeks have been awesome. I blogged it a few weeks ago so will paste the link back here. I will add a new photo to blog as well so you can see the improvement. The pictures are at four weeks after the start of treatment. As far as measurements go, I think Sick Kids uses different measurements than craniotech. The only measurement done for my kiddo was the bridge of nose to ear canal - we had a differential of 7.5mm. AT our first appointment it was 3mm difference - big improvement. After being told we were mild by the ped, the orthotist thought we were modertate to severe. I am not sure we are close to severe because I have seen some noggins on these pages that were obviously in need of correction - our need was there but not absolutely critical. I have loved the orthotist at Sick Kids and all the advice they have given. I was reluctant because of some not-so-positive experiences at Sick Kids but our experience has been the absolute opposite. I am hoping to be out by x-mas (his first birthday is January 5th) but we shall see at our next appointment. [bTW, my helmet was covered by my company insurance.] http://somewhere-close-to-home.blogspot.com/2006/10/progress.html Ann
