Guest guest
Concerning The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto (which is in Canada by the way) if they are using a 2 step procedure then it is Dr. Nagata's technique. Dr. Nagata is from Japan but goes to Toronto and Houston to share his technique. I am guessing that the severity of the microtia might determine the age at which the reconstruction begins, because Dr. Nagata's technique I am told require bigger pieces of cartilage and that is why he can do a 2 step instead of a fox trot. An older child can (of 9 or 10) can supply a bigger piece of cartilage. Steve B.
Guest guest
Thankyou for replying. So what your saying is that if has Grade 3 microtia then he would need a larger amount of cartiladge, which he would need to be older before they would perform the surgery? Thankyou, --- " P.
