Guest guest
My daughter is 4 mos old and has a mild case of plagio. Before going to the helmet, the specialist wants to see if repositioning will work. When she is awake she spends all of her time in either the bumbo, saucer, or jump up but our problems are when she is sleeping! What ideas do you have that we can keep her off of the flat side? We have tried to stick some foam under the crib sheet but she seems to scoot out of it. Can anyone email or direct me to some pics or have ideas that will work? We see the specialist in 5 wks so whatever we do now will determine which way we proceed. Thanks so much and what a great site!
Guest guest
My son also has plagio, secondary to torticollis, so we've had an especially hard time keeping him off of his flat spot. My MIL made this really great wedge for him to sleep on. It is actually as long as his entire body, so it's more difficult for him to scoot off of. You can buy them, too, but they are around $40. Just make sure your angle is enough to keep her from laying on her flat area, but not so much that it flips her over. Make sense? Let me know if you want to see pictures. Guest guest
There are a lot of great tips in the 'files' section. We've also trained our son to sleep on his left side, but he's much older and no longer at risk for SIDS. Good luck!! Guest guest
I have visited those sites and found them uselful, but I am looking for some more ideas for nighttime. If anyone has used a product or made something please let me know. I have spent most of my day today trying to devise other " tools " to use but nothing seems to be working.... Guest guest
our doctor recommends a product called " nightform " . It is a sleep positioner. However the age range is 0-5 mo, and my daughter was already 4.5 mo when we saw him so we didn't bother. It might be late for your little one to benefit from this too, but I thought I would mention it. -christne > > > > Check the files section of the plagio site: > > > Plagiocephaly/files/Repositioning%2\ > 0Hea > > dquarters/ > > > > Or this site from CAPPS kids: > > http://www.cappskids.org/CAPPSRepositioning.htm > > > > Hope they help! > > > > Molly > > California > > Nicolas, 11.5 months, tort & plagio, STARband 4/25/06-9/12/06, > Graduate! > > , 3.5 > > , 6.75 > > > > Help! Guest guest
Hi Amy. How mobile is your dd when she sleeps? You could try rolling up a receiving blanket and placing it under the fitted crib sheet, that way it won't scoot away or come unrolled. Also, try this.....you can make a tube of fabric and sstuff it with poly-fil stuffing. Then sew it up and either pin it or velcro it to the back of her pj's. That ways she can' scoot away from it no matter how mobile she is. If she is flattened on one side, pin the roll vertically on the falt side and she will stay rolled up off that flat spot. Guest guest
They are available at www.nightform.com. I haven't tried this one before, but it looks like it would do the trick.
