Guest guest
I just thought I would post the bad news I got today. I am going in for a quick fix tomorrow afternoon. My lowere jaw is not hinging correctly, so before everything heals, my OS want to reset the plate in the lower jaw. He says it should only take about an hour and I should get to go back home tomorrow evening. He also said this should not extend my recovery time as my top jaw is not affected at all. I am actually handling this better than I thought, but I guess I can't say I've had as easy of a recovery as I thought. The worst part for me is the IV again and anesthesia again. Guest guest
Hi , I'm so sorry to hear of your doctors report. I'm the one who had surgery the day after you. I have been wired shut. I went to the doc today and he said things look good. I have an appointment to get the wires out next Tuesday - can't wait for that day! I guess you're not wired. It would be so hard to be alone with 2 young kids at this point! My parents are in town staying with me till I feel up to being on my own. I have 2 kids too but they are 6 & 9. My husband is away at work every day so it really helps to have my parents in. I'm improving every day. I took a walk up the street today and then had to visit a neighbor to take a break. She's a good friend and hadn't seen me since my " extreme makeover " . I feel for you and hope the next procedure goes well and that recovery will be easy. Can you get someone to stay with you? What did you have done? I had lower and genio. I have tingling and zings of sensation. My chin is completely numb at this point but the rest of my face is waking up. I'm a lovely shade of yellow all over my neck. Talking is fine for me - I don't have a plate/splint. Maybe try to stay in touch if you like. Let me know. You can email me. jeanine
Guest guest
Thanks for the support. Luckily my dad just got in town this evening, which is one of the reasons we decided to go ahead and do it this quickly. I will still only be banded and should not have to relearn how to eat, swallow etc. Today has been the best day yet until my OS appointment. I know he had a really hard time giving me the news. Guest guest
, As hard as it may seem, try to be glad that your OS caught it early in the game. I would hate for you to have had to do it completely all over again (I'm sure you are, too). I feel really bad for you that your recovery is interrupted, but at least he did say it wouldn't extend your recovery time (hooray for that!!). Hope it gets better even sooner. Guest guest
Wow, Jeanine, I didn't know you were wired...So am I. I guess it's the splint that makes all the difference in talking then because I can't speak well at all. You're lucky that you are getting unwired next week. I am at Day14 now and am not getting unwired for another 4 weeks. I guess it all depends on how much movement was done and what your OS is comfortable with. Glad to hear you are doing well. Guest guest
I am home and think I feel okay considering. The bite feels much better and I am still able to drink out of a cup. Thank you for everyone's well wishes.
