Guest guest
My son is getting his DOC band tomorrow. I am very concered since he is 6.5 months old with moderate to severe plagio that he will need two and we cannot afford two. We are paying cash for the first one and can barely afford this one. They said his measurements are 18mm, not sure what that even means. Any experiences you can share and opinions on needing a second band would be great. Thanks! , Mom to Slater
Guest guest
I can't offer much info/advice on a DOC band, but I know that Hanger's fee of $1600 covers the entire cost of treatment, including second or third bands if needed. Do you have one near you? Have you looked into them? Candace, AZmommy to Tiernan, 5.5 mos tort, plagiokimberlyskeie <kimberlyskeie@...> wrote: My son is getting his DOC band tomorrow. Guest guest
I understand what you are saying. My daughter turns 3 months today and she had plagio/torticollis. She is on the border line of moderate to severe. She was 16mm and we go in next week to remeasure and cast if needed. We can't afford one but we also found out that when she gets more head control she may need a tot spot. it is a brace to help with teh torticollis. I don't understand that. But she also may need 2 helmets. I am still in the learning process. Where I live in wisconsin, there is not alot of little ones with helemts so education to all is key. I have talked to 2 people and have seen more children with teh helmets now then I have ever seen. But educating myself with information has helped along with teh wonderful people on this site. Guest guest
, I wouldn't worry yet about needing a second bad. Get your ds into and used to his first band and see what kind of correction he gets. Not every child needs a second band. Now 18 mm of asymmetry is usually considered severe plagio, bu 6.5 months is a good young age to start the banding procecss. Your son could grow like a weed in the next few couple months and receive really good correction. And if he does not grow enough to preent needing a second band, then you can cross that bridge when you get to it. Good luck at the fitting, please let us know how it goes. Guest guest
Funny, I live in Chicago, and my son will be getting a band, but I have NEVER ever seen another child with one. I had never even heard of them until I joined the torticolliskids group. > > > My son is getting his DOC band tomorrow.
