Guest guest
Hi all, Eli has been in his STARband for 3.5 months now. I have had MANY problems with the place he got this from, usually with the receptionist/scheduler when there is an issue with the helmet. Two weeks ago I had to cancel because Eli had strep, RSV and an ear infection. She said she'd call me back when she got him rescheduled. WELL, she didn't, and 2 days later they called asking me why we weren't there for his appointment. I never knew there was one, and if she would have thought, he wasn't done being sick yet! Yesterday was the last straw... Eli has been getting a very nasty red mark on his forehead where he is bossing -- it's been a chronic problem for him. Yesterday at therapy his PT said she didn't think he was getting circulation to that part of his head, and said we should be seen ASAP to get it adjusted. But of course, they weren't available to do it yesterday or today-- the ortho that does them was out of town yesterday and booked full today. As it is, we run at least 3 and sometimes 4 times a week for appointments between Eli and Jax, so I tell the woman which days I can be there and the times. The dimwit tells me times that are at least 2 hours PAST the times I said I could be there.. hello, I work TOO!! Sheesh. So, they said 2 weeks from yesterday was the best they could. Good gawl. By this time I'm ready to pull my hair out, or hers. So, I decided that's it. I'm done. I called the neuro's office that referred him for the helmet and said he is either getting out of the helmet (though given what Jax went through, I'm not too happy about that)or, we go somewhere else. The neuro called me back, then called the ortho and then the ortho called me. Of course now that the neuro got on him about it, they are willing to see him whenever I can get there. However, I'm fed up. I want to change to a different helmet now. Eli has to be casted for a new helmet anyway, which they've been saying for a month or more now -- but he is going in on the 17th of this month for an MRI and a botox injection, so I thought maybe switch to a hanger... Am I nuts for changing mid-treatment? I swear I have at least a dozen gray hairs from the people w/the STARband. UGH -- Kim mom to 3 Kaela 11-- no issues Jax- 2.5 tort resolved, brachial plexus injury resolved, wore CranioCap then had Craniotomy @ 17 months to correct plagio. Guest guest
Hi Kim, Well first of all I want to say that my daughter is in a STARband as well. Personally I think it sounds like you should definatly go some other place. I think for STARband users ( since our ortho's do more than bands ) that it is really important that we feel comfortable with our orthos, also that our baby is important to them as well as all of their other clients. I think if you feel as though your and Eli's needs are not being met and if you feel like you are just getting brushed off then go to some other place. It shouldn't take a call from the neuro to get your ortho involved with Eli's treatment. Go with your gut instinct and what you think Eli would benefit from the most. Guest guest
I don't blame you for wanting to switch. The scheduler sounds like an idiot. And you've got to be an idiot to hire an idiot soooo, they all sound like idiots. Hopefully Hanger will be better or these people stragten up.
