I am in a very similar situation to you. Except that my son is almost 9 months and I am running out of time to make a decision!

I am also deciding btwn CT and Hanger. I live in brooklyn so Hanger would be closer to me but I have heard much more about CT than Hanger. Are you referring to the orthotist at Hanger in Farmingdale as the one who only deals with cranial moldings?

CT vs. Hanger

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the board and would like to introduce myself. I'm

and my son, ph is 4 months old and has CMT and plagio. I noticed

it within 2 weeks and brought it to my pedi's attention who "watched

it until" 6 weeks and then just diagnosised it as muscle spazims. I

go to a chiropractor and brought him in for a consult and he told me

it was torticollis.

Long story short, we have been seeing the chiro since then on a

weekly basis, going home exercise, as well as, going to physical

therapy. Our physical therapist refered us to Hanger for an

evulation. ph's measurement was 10mm (he leans to the right)

and they feel that we would have benefits in using a band. While

my husband and I agree, we are not sure if there is much difference

in the two companies. I know two people who have used Cranial Tech

and are happy with their outcome, but do not know of anyone you has

used Hanger. Hanger is located within 15 miles of home and Cranial is

about 90 miles (and a 2+ hrs drive with traffic). Location for

the "best" treatment would not be a deciding factor, however, I

have been told to make sure that an orthist monitor his treatment and

Cranial would see an MPT. Is there a difference? It also seems

like the people who used Cranial needed two bands as opposed to

one, why would that be?

Someone else commented that because Cranial only deals with the

band/helmet, they are more qualified, but my Hanger orthtist, only

deals with the bands at this location and other with the other

prostetics. He also said that he does about 200+ a year at this

location. Does anyone have experience with Hanger in Farmingdale,

NJ or CT in Paramus, NJ? Were you happy with the course of

treatment? I would like to know of your experience(s)positive or

negative.

I'm sorry for all of the questions, but this is not an easy

decision for us to make. I just want to learn of others experiences

or "pick your brains" in hopes of learning more.
