Hi Sandy, Don't ever give up on a food after getting a spike one time. There are so many other things that can cause a higher reading - stress, illness, just a change in your daily routine. Also, you could have gotten a bad strip. I tell everyone to try the food at least twice. You may want to have a smaller portion the second time. This is the way I have learned to eat and the reason I can eat so many different foods. hugs Eunice

I just ate a bowl of Special K with dried apples in it. If I don't forget, I'll test in two hours and let you know my reading. hugs Eunice

Guest guest
Hi Eunice, I will have to try it again because I'm telling you - it tasted SO good! I will try and eat some fat with it next time with a tiny bowl and see what happens. Thanks! Sandy Re: Special K Hi Sandy, Don't ever give up on a food after getting a spike one time. Guest guest
Seems like adding apples would only make you spike higher? I know if I add a couple of banana slices to my hot cereal in the a.m., my sugars are a bit higher. I know bananas are higher GI, but wouldn't you want to add fat, not fruit to the cereal? Yes, let us know how much you spike from it. Sandy Re: Special K Hi Sandy, Probably you do need the protein with it. I just ate a bowl of Special K with dried apples in it.
