Guest guest
Hey everybody, I noticed my daughter's head shape and ear misalignment by 1-2 months. Pediatrician finally sent me to neurosurgeon at 4 months. He told me to reposition and went back at 6 months with no improvement. At that visit the neurosurgeon told me if she didn't wear a helmet, she would get the same improvements in the long run. He also told me that helmets/bands have nothing to do with repositioning the ears. She is now 11 months. I took her to Cranial Technologies in Charlotte, NC last week. Her cranial vault asymmetry was 25 and her skull base asymmetry was 15! We are waiting for insurance response before starting the casting. Anybody have any experience with those numbers and a later age starting the band? I am sick at my stomach to have listened to that neurosurgeon, but am starting to feel better now that something is about to be done about it...even though it is MONTHS later than it should be. I'd really appreciate any thoughts/experiences. -Beth
Guest guest
Hi Beth, I'm sorry that you weren't taken seriously in the beginning, that is an all too common story around here, myself included. At her age would I would try and move forward as quickly as possible. And DOCs do help the ears!
