Guest guest
I wanted to share an experience I had today while previewing a classroom that my son might be placed in. This classroom is an Oral DHH preschool classroom for 4 year olds. I arrived just as they were starting story time and the teacher showed the kids the front of the book they were going to read and one of the boys said " Our trip to the pumpkin patch " - and I thought, oh, they must have read this book before. Nope - this 4 year old DHH child was reading the title of the book - it turns out the book was an experience book from their trip to the pumpkin patch the prior day. So there is no way he could have known what the title was (and he read some other sentences later too). It was so amazing to see a child not just doing well with his speech (his language & speech is on par with his hearing peers) but also excelling in other areas just as he would have without a hearing loss. It was a nice way to end the week and I just wanted to share!
