Hello everyone! I know I havent posted lately, but I was wondering if

anyone knew of any ASL classes in the Southern California area-

something closer than Riverside? I took my 10 year old to the Lions

Camp for the week and realized that we NEED to learn to sign and pretty

quickly!

I felt soo terrible that I didnt know it. I suppose I have been in

denial thinking well, my son has one " good " ear so we are cool...NOT!!!

HELP!!!

There should be a lot of opportunity to learn ASL in So Cal. For

starters, if I recall, you're by Northridge, and there is a Deaf

Studies program there. There are lots of coffee nights in So Cal.

They are usually at the B and N , starbucks, or Borders. Also, go here:

http://www.gladinc.org/ (advocacy, info, referals)

and here:

http://www.ohsoez.com (for info on deaf events)

And dont' beat yourself up for not knowing sign. My Hayley went to the

same camp for years at wood and that is part of why I sent her,

to become more fluent in sign. You're really just starting out.

Talk is cheap. Use Yahoo! Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls. Great rates

starting at 1¢/min.

There is a nice Michigan State website I like to use as a reference

because each sign is in video so I can watch the right way to do it -

- the books can be difficult to understand exactly how my hand is

supposed to go.
