My DD Jakcie learned her alphabet, regognigtion along with sounds, from watching it! Good luck, glad to hear the good news! Guest guest
Have you tried visual-tactile cues? Guest guest
Have you tried sound que's. With my 2 year old we keep switching directions and this is one phase we tried. It is emphasizing an area of her mouth with a hand signal to encourage using that part of the mouth to make the sound. > > My son is actually just starting to blend sounds together now that they > realize he has verbal apraxia and it is amazing to, after six years of > waiting, hear him talk. Guest guest
I was going to suggest the Letter Factory DVD as well. There's even a game you can play where they have to pick out which letter makes the sound. It definitely seems like the verbal testing is unfair and innacurate in this situation. I wish I had some advice, but I really don't know what you can do to remedy the situation, besides bringing it up at an IEP meeting. Guest guest
Hi Jule: I have a 3 year old son that loves to color, cut and paste. http://www.superduperinc.com/B_Pages/bk283.htm (you can do a search for glue and say and it will bring up other workbooks) Landon loves to do these worksheets with me for Speech homework. It comes with a CD and you just print off the pages with the target sound. He has been having trouble putting his lips together for the B,M,P sounds. I print off pages that have these sounds on it, and instead of saying the word we practice the letter sound as he glues the pictures. He is having so much fun, he doesn't realize he is doing homework. My non-apraxic 6 year old enjoys doing these worksheets also.
