gag. i hate water. i've always hated water. (coincidentally, my pee looks

like apple juice concentrate...) i've slammed down 16 oz so far today, and

have another 36 cooling in the fridge.

i've tried lemon juice and oregano oil (not at the same time... double gag!)

in my water and nothing helps.

is it really that big a deal to drink plain water instead of herbal tea or

something like that? seems to me that at least i'd be getting some form of

liquid in...

i mean, i rrrrreeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllllly hate water! help!

rona.

Rona, to function properly your body NEEDS plain water. In drinking other

liquids, your body has to " do something " to glean the water from that other

liquid. You may think you enjoy the other beverages and hate water but your

body does need plain water - every day. Try *working on* your water

consumption. 8oz today, 16oz tomorrow, 24oz Wednesday etc, and before you

know it, you'll be drinking it with no problem. I'm not saying it will be

easy for you at first but I'm confident you CAN do it :-) Just take it in

baby steps. Mind over matter, you CAN do this!

I was the same way when my Naturopath (who loves this diet, BTW) told me to

drink more water. Here's what I do:

I drink herbal tea, but it's not " full-strength " and it isn't very fruity

(like some of the Celestial Seasonings teas). I put one bag in a pot that

holds about 6 cups, pour the hot water in, and that's what I drink from

8:30am until about 1:30 pm. Then I'll have club soda or fix one cup of tea.

When I reached one of my goals, my reward was a Seltzer Bottle - you make

your own fizzy drinks!! It's fun, a little scary, but fun (the carbon

dioxide makes a big noise when it first " goes " into the bottle). Plain

water never tasted soooo good.

Hope that helps!

I know about the not liking water thing. My hubby's that way. He would

only drink water if it were the last thing on earth, and he'd do it

grudgingly.

While Marlena's right, here's something you might try in the interim.

Make yourself some herbal iced tea, and slowly make it weaker and weaker

'til you're used to drinking just water. Water is an " acquired taste " ,

and if you never acquired that taste while you were young, you have to

" teach " yourself to like it now. Make sure though that you're using good

filtered or bottled water. Try several different kinds to see which one's

LEAST disgusting. :) Also, drinking really COLD water might help to make

things easier for you.

You have to start somewhere; your body really does need that water.

> If you can tolerate the carbonation how about flavored seltzer?

I think it's been mentioned before. (I've slept since yesterday, so...

:D) Carbonation is VERY bad on your kidneys, not to mention the fact that

it actually makes you retain water! Your body has to work SO hard to get

what it needs from carbonated water.

And you have to watch out for carbonated drinks with phosphoric acid.

THAT's the chemical that helps to leach calcium from your bones. And

phosphoric acid doesn't necessarily HAVE to be accompanied by caffeine.

AWESOME, Rona! IMO, that little bit of syrup is FINE when it helps you to

get plain old water down. WTG!!!!
