Guest guest
The doctor and I spent ten minutes trying to get his attention by making noises and calling his name, but he never turned around. Later during the exam he through a temper tantrum and the doctor said, " well that's your problem " . We heard much the same from our doctor, unfortunately we listened to him for 3 1/2 years! And he was wrong. Our audie later told us that undiagnosed hearing loss often causes either extremely ornery behavior or very passive behavior. My daughter had the ornery type too! Good luck on the testing, you may not know anything definitive today, sometimes with small children it's a process rather than a one time test. It sounds like you are like we were, we KNEW for several days before the testing that she had impaired hearing - but still were dealt a huge emotional blow by the confirmation. I remember he audie saying " your child has a permanent, severe hearing loss that surgery or medication cannot fix. She will need 2 hearing aids ... " After that her mouth kept moving but I didn't hear anything more. So it took several visits for me to understand things also. Be gentle with yourself. Glad you found us. in GA
