Eh no need to rush anything. Realize that the first few months you

might find that you only eat a bite or two of new things. Maybe you

like them but can't eat more and so save it and have a couple bites

later or the next day and still end up throwing half out. Maybe you

get sick off the first two bites and have to toss the whole thing and

deal with it. Try again in a few more weeks or a month.

Enjoy your ham and cheese.

Hi ,

Welcome to the group and congradulations on your big decision! I was

alot like you as my starting weight was 310 and I had never had any

kind of surgery before either. I think the anestisia was what I was

most scared of but everything went very well and I was one of the lucky

ones with absolutely no complications. It will be 2 years for me in

Jan and although It may not have felt it right after surgery it was the

best decision I have ever made. I know it might be hard, but think

about how happy you and they will be knowing you may live longer thanks

to this. I wish you the best of luck. If you ever wnat to talk,

please feel free to contact me.

I was nervous too. I had never had major surgery before and was

pretty scared. Once I got in there it was pretty much excitement

because it was something new and once you get into pre-op and they

give you some anesthesia you dont remember much else except waking up

in a different room. Its a piece of cake just take it all in stride

and you will be fine.

I had had my tonsils out sometime in the mid 70s. I think I was six

or seven years old. That was the extent to my surgery/hospital stays.

The area where I live now has a booming and top notch medical

community. Not to minimize ligitamite fears but I wasn't nearly as

afraid of surgery as I was diabetes and a slow, agonizing death from

obesity.

Good Morning,

I am new to your group. My name is Patti and I am from Liverpool,NY.

I have fms/myofascial pain complex. It has been about 10 years for

me. I am 55 years old. I take skalaxin for muscle spasms. I take

celebrex for my all over body arthritis. I have had cervical spine

surgery for the stenosis. I also have a plate in my front neck that

covers 3 levels. I also go to water therapy and message therapy. I

also use Sombra, a message lotion that has a anti-inflammatory and it

is all natural herbs. The PT people use it in their office so they

let me buy it from them. It isn't sold in stores. They sell the jar

for $11. It last quite awhile.

My hardest thing is I have to do everything around our home becasue my

hubby has ALS, Lou Gehrigs disease. He is 43 and has upper limb

weakness. He doesn't have the strength to even lift his arms pat his

waist. HIs legs are weakening also. He is still amazingly working

full time. He works in a office with many wonderful people that help

him. He uses a bluetooth for phones and a voice activator software

for typing. He won't be able to work at the office to much longer.

Once he can no longer go to the mens room on his own. Then he can

work from home until the disease stops him. It has been 3 years. I

am telling you this so you'll know why I do it all even when I just

want to sit down and cry of pain. I have no choice. I take ambien

for sleep. If I don't sleep at least 5 good hours I suffer all day.

I have read many of the post and see that I am not alone!!

I hope you all have a wonderful day

Patti

Hi Everyone,

My name is Patsy, I am 53 years old and was diagnosed with fibro

seven years ago. I am single and have no option but to work everyday

no matter what. I am a industrial electrician/mechanic and have a

very physical job. I do alright as long as I keep moving but I have

no life outside of my job. I am always too tired, or hurt too bad to

do anything that would be considered " fun " . I get so depressed

because it is impossible to have " joy " . Life is just a never-ending

butt kicking. I too find a good night sleep is hard to come by. I

have a really bad reaction to any of the seratonin inhibitors. I

take lunesta for sleep, xanax for depression, anxiety, and vicodin

for pain. I am really curious about the lyrica. The side effects

sound as bad as the fibro. I know the world percieves me as a

hateful, old hermit. I have a horrible time remembering things and

walk around in a fog. I'm scared to death I am going to do something

fooling working on heavy machinery and get myself seriously injured.

I have told no one at my job about the fibro, even with family, and

doctors think it's all in your head. I work mostly with men and I

feel like I can show no weakness around them. I thank you for this

opprotunity to VENT!!!! I HATE BEING SICK !!!!!

> My name is , I am 41 years old and I have had FMS for several

years, but officially diagnosed 4 years ago. I am divorced, with no

kids. I live with my boyfriend of 2.5 years. He is supportive and

helpful. Although, sometimes he doesn't understand when I am just

not up to doing something/going away, but never gets mad. He is very

patient with me. I work full time in an office setting. Sitting so

long is definitely hard for me, but I can get up often and rearrange

my desk/chair to suit my pain. I am very thankful for that. I

forgot to add that I am from South Dakota. I saw Sheli's post about

moving to Iowa. I grew up in Iowa. Sheli, I am curious as to what

part of the state will you be moving to?

Hi Patti,

I am an old timer here at the site... LOL... I mean I have been here for about

a year and half at least. LOL...

Anyway, your story touches my heart deeply. I am so sorry to hear of your

suffering and the disease that is causing your husband to suffer. I understand

a little about ALS because I have seen a few patients with it honey. (I am an

R.N.). I just hate this for the both of you. It must be so difficult with your

own health problems to deal with everything. My heart is with you and your

husband.

I want you to know that this is a wonderful place to be for support.

Sometimes the board is full of letters (well, everyday)... so please bare with

us because for example it took me a while to get to your introduction.

Nevertheless, there are wonderful supportive people here honey. I am so glad

you are here. Never hesitate to vent or talk about anything here.

Hugs to you,

Debra V. (East Tx)
