Guest guest
Hi , My son has been having loose bowel movements for I would say a month, starting at the end of August. He didn't have diarreha per say, but when he would go potty it would me either loose or runny. Last week it was perfect, then 5 days ago it returned. His appetite is great.. totally normal. He's on rice milk, and I try to give him rice and dry toast, but he also wants and loves meat/chicken., donut..etc. When I give him pedialyte he doesn't go for a day then the next time he does go its not terrible but not normal.. you know. I have also been giving him Probiotic ( Jarrow-Dophilus+fos) once a day. As far as it being Yeast, I don't know..We haveh done a urine test on him about a month and a half ago, it I believe it says it doesn't have it.. but I may be wrong. In the past, My son's stomach is quiete sensitive, for instance a move from one state to another.. He'll have diarreha for a week. When he was an infant he was on Soy formula/milk about 4 months. Also, another reason why I thought he had all this was because he was always licking his fingers and hands,`but that's stopped about a week ago, yet his stomach is still not normal. What should I do? He does have nasal congestion.. We think it might have a link with his loose bowel. Since your a Doctor, I thought I'd ask you before having to take him to his. Should I show him to the doctor?,.. I just don't want him to be on Amoxicillan,. My son has Autism+Apraxia, So these antibiotic make him get worse behaviorally. Please advice.. Thank you.. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I am sorry, and please do not take this the wrong way. I really can't give " doctors advice " . THis whole forum has been difficult for me, because I feel like I have been posting information that is completely anecdotal and not scientifically based through clinical data. At the same time, I feel like what we have seen with my son is information that other families need to hear about...that we need to keep asking questions in order to understand why our children have this problem, and in order to treat treatable causes. And it needs to be studied in clinical trials in order for us to understand the problem and improve treatment plans. But I can't be the site MD. You have no idea how many emails I am getting on and off line...I can't keep up. I would love to help everyone. I know exactly what many of you are going through, because we have lived it ourselves. The best way for me to help is to focus on getting a research grant to answer this question. Many of the questions I'm hearing really need to be discussed with your pediatricians. I know it is frustrating as often your pediatrican may not have the answers, or many not be listening to you. There is a very long list of reasons your child may be having loose stools, and there is no way I would be able to identify the cause. It could be anything from a common stomach flu, to giardia after swimming in a lake or contaminated swimming pool, to food allergy, to leaky gut...the list goes on. The chronic nasal congestion suggests it could be a food allergy (unless the congestion is not chronic...then it could be viral). As you can see, its not a simple answer. - > Hi , > My son has been having loose bowel movements for I would say a month, starting at the end of August.
