Guest guest
Hi Val....addressing only the email service here... You can rest assured that the problems with email have absolutely nothing to do with whether we are set to reply to list or reply to poster. We've always had periods of email woes, and we always will. That's just the way it goes. There are so many factors that come into play in sending and receiving email, and almost all of them are out of our control. Until next time.... Trisha~mentor He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name...Psalm 147:4 sandlewood@... 2003-05-0715:04:05 :::::::<>::::::<>::::::<>::::::<>::::::<>::::::<>::::::<>::::::<>::::::<>:::::: I am asking this and wondering if we could " re-vote " the replies going to the list and the person. I am wondering in view of how many emails I'm seeing with people saying they are bouncing and not receiving answers to their emails in a timely manner including me. What if we voted again with a view that we would post to both the person and the list so everyone could benefit from the answers and the person asking the question could possibly get their answer faster?? Not trying to stir anything up, but I have not received answers to some of my questions for over an hour and by then it is too late for me. Anyone else care to share their feelings on this? Guest guest
>Seems to me the listowner should make a decision and everyone simply >live with that decision and adjust accordingly. That's how it came about Chuck. The subject came up, it was put to the list for opinions, and every single reply supported the change to reply to group. It was open for discussion for 2 days, then the settings were changed. People need to just try clicking reply to sender for their list mail. I do know that even though sometimes mail comes with NMTC in there twice does not mean that two copies comes through. I've been in lists for years with that and never has it caused double mail. Some programs may react differently, who knows. Until next time.... If there's one thing that really bugs me, it's receiving two copies of e-mails, which is what will happen much of the time when list settings are to reply to both list and sender. If it gets set up that way, I'll probably bow back out, as my volume of mail is already high enough without duplication. Every post that comes through can be replied to either via the list, or individually, or both when the occasion seems to warrant it. (The sender's e-mail address IS there and doesn't need to be in one's address book, but it may require a tiny bit of effort to send to it when it's necessary to do so.) Whichever method is chosen, there will always be those that like it and those that don't. I've seen this same disagreement come up on virtually every list I'm on. Seems to me the listowner should make a decision and everyone simply live with that decision and adjust accordingly. Okay, so $0.03 ... > I agree Valpie.. I have checked it out in the past, at least a couple of times. I've always ended up scrapping it and going on to something else, though I don't remember why. Something about it bugged me, but I'm at a loss when it comes to remembering what it was. Another good one (free, because it's no longer in development) is Calypso. Lots of them out there ... it's just a matter of finding which one works best for you.
Guest guest
I've looked everywhere, but I can't find anything where I would change the addresses from friendly names to actual email addresses. It may not be possible in OE 6 which is what I'm using. Thanks for trying to help though Jan jantranscribes@... " Typing is my life. " " Whoever signs the paycheck makes the rules. Outlook Express (and Outlook) show you the " friendly " address which, in most cases, is just the name, but the info is actually there, hidden, and brought to the cliboard by that right-click/copy method. Guest guest
Hmm, I thought it was setup that you didn't see the senders email address in the email heading.....Does anyone know if IncrediMail XE allows for this? All I see, bare with menoow,........is NMTC address when I read he mail and also when hitting reply. I am able to right click the mail in my inbox and go to properties if I want to see the senders email address.....but would have to highlight it and paste it into an email to send privately. Very odd.....I must be missing something. Oddly enough, it doesn't happen every single time that I open the group email, but certainly 95% of the time, it doesn't have the senders email address showing. c -- Re: Trisha and list with respect Thank you once again for taking the time to explain that to me. Guest guest
Jan, NOW I understand what your problem is! I can't remember the complete path because I don't use OE anymore, but options is under something on the menu bar. It may say internet options. It may be there or address book, but there are choices for how to display your 'From' addresses. It sounds like you have it set to nick only or not to display email addy in from line. Changing that should set you straight. HTH! Sylvia Roller M-TEC Student - Session 4-5 gentlsong@... AIM: Jntlsong >And therein was my confusion... Guest guest
Chuck, I asked the question because I now use PocoMail exclusively and it is fantastic in my book! I tried Pegasus and didn't like how complicated it made everything look...to me anyway. Poco is great, fast, and inexpensive and is now in beta-testing for PocoMail 3.0. They also have great support and a forum for questions/answers. Any questions I have had usually been answered in way less than 24 hrs. It works with NAV and isn't NEARLY as susceptible to viruses! You might want to check it out. Sylvia Roller M-TEC Student - Session 4-5 gentlsong@... Guest guest
I had also checked out PocoMail in the past and rejected it for a long time. Then for some reason, I took another look at it (after Pegasus) and decided I liked it and couldn't remember why I didn't the first time! Probably because the first time, it wouldn't do html but it will now. I've also tried Calypso and a lot of others but Poco won out. Sylvia Roller M-TEC Student - Session 4-5 gentlsong@...
