Quixote,

I emailed you back but your server booted me out as spam! :-) So, I thought

I'd reply to the list and hope you see this.

I access the hospital through their specific dial-up software. It's not a

VPN, it's just dial-in software. I've looked and there are no options to

choose along these lines....

Thanks!

P.S. Wonder why my email is looked at as spam? That happens to be every once

in awhile!

Thanks!

That can happen for any number of reasons, and is usually something

over which you have no control.

Some anti-spam programs work on the basis of a blacklist, where

certain domains are tagged as spam because so much spam comes from,

or through, that ISP. If this were the case, I suspect it would be

happening to you more than just occasionally, and just about the only

recourse would be to switch providers.

More likely, your occasional message is being tagged as spam because

it is either (A) very short [this alone will trigger a lot of spam

filters], or (B) contains a few words that are spam " triggers "

[seemingly innocent words like " program, " " software, " " prescription, "

and a plethora of others, because they also show up with great

frequency in known spam messages]. Even mail from yahoogroups will

automatically be tagged as potential spam by many of the dumber spam

filtering systems.

If you're lucky, the folks to whom you are writing on a mailing list

such as this one who also have spam filtering/blocking in place have

also had the presence of mind to whitelist any mail coming from the

list, or which the list tag -- ]NMTC] -- in the subject line, as my

mailer is set up to do:

X-Text-Classification: ham

X-POPFile-Link:

<http://127.0.0.1:8080/jump_to_message?view=popfile513286=57.msg>

X-PMFLAGS: 34095616 0 1 PNWRR4UW.CNM

X-AC-Weight: [####] (Whitelisted) -9999

X-CC-Diagnostic:

In short (kinda late for " in short " now, ain't it?), it's pretty much

out of your control and the onus is upon the folks with the spam

filters to make sure that they're up to par and not causing too many

false positives.

you are now talkikng about sophisticated signal splitting, of which it is no

longer cheap to do. It is easier to use 2 computers, than to split the

signal for the use of one. You will have conflicts in their use. More than

likely you PC will not recognize both modems, as they have to communicate

with the signal to receive, as well as send. It depends on your budget,

feasibility and most of all necessity.

Karl,

Other people on this list, though, have said that they are able to use the two

at the same time, and I don't think they have anything all that advanced or

sophisticated on their PCs! Well, not a big deal. It's one of those, " Sure wish

I could.... " rather than " I have to.... " !!!!

Thanks for your help!

Funny about that spam deal. I have a spam trap but it was not in there or I

could just set the address to trusted.

Click on start > settings > network connections and tell me what is listed,

and we will go from there.
