Putter's poops are always formed unless he is sick or something.

On what authority does the school nurse have to request this from you in the

first place?

How asinine.

Call her and ask her to put her request in writing. If she asks why, tell her

you will then take the letter to your school district for review before

providing her with the information she needs.

I wish I had the time tonite to compile a list of web links for you which

discuss the large percentage of autistic children with bowel issues due to

vaccine damage and resulting food intolerances. I have an IEP in the morning,

unfortunately, and must focus on that tonite, sorry.

My oldest son , is 9, autistic, non-verbal. He is not potty

trained. The school is harrassing me about his bowel movements. They

have always been soft, not formed. The school nurse

wants " documentation " that this is a normal thing for . Which

means I either got to decide to take him to the medicaid doctor, and

make it an all day trip and hope to hell she understands what I need

from her or I take him to the doctor who is experienced with Autism,

spend the $25 and whatever else it costs for tests. (the kids are

also on hubby's insurance, didn't cost extra to add them when we

added the baby, so we did)

Does your children have " formed " bowel movements? The nurse at

school says that this is not a normal thing.

sorry for the crappy subject ;0)

She never never never did until I took her off milk. Then gave me a hard

time about this at school until I told them that she was being seen at CHOP

for a gastrointestinal problem and that I would let them know the results.

Documentation? You word isn't good enough? Tell her it's normal, it's the way

he's

always been and should she need more than that you'd like to know why and what

law

requires it. Screw her and her documentation.

Oh, I forgot to answer. Buster's aren't formed either, but I don't have any

documentation of it.

she like that. Oh, don't get me started.

be sorry she asked! Leggs

I guess she just wants to make sure there is no virus or bacteria.

the dumb woman actually said he might have a bowel obstruction. Now,

the classroom aide had told her she hasn't seen a formed bm from

james in 2 years. So he had had an obstruction for 2 years????? i

told her if he did, he would have gotten real deathly sick a couple

years ago. Sheesh. Anyway, i'm going to ask the doctor to do a

culture on him, and then get a medical release so she can communicate

directly to the doctor herself.

Oh and one more thing. Tell her if she insists on documentation from

a medical professional, you will have to insist on reimbursement for

not only the doctor visit, but transportation costs as well as your

time wasted.

Ugh.

Huh?

You have to document that it's " normal " ? And what if it isn't? What is it

to her?

If your son is otherwise healthy, and has regular (to you) bowel movements,

then " form " , I don't feel, is a big deal.

Jacqui has a whole set of digestive issues, and sometimes hers are NOT

formed. If Jacqui was not potty trained, I still can't IMAGINE anyone at

the school district harassing me about it.

geez.

Yes I agree with Debbi. Everyone's bowel functions are individual to

them, and unless there is runny diarrhea poop, then I find it odd

they'd be questioning it.

However, there are GI diseases out there that will present with

certain types of poop as in Fatty stools, chronically loose or hard.

If this is a normal thing for him, then ask her why she is concerned

about the bowels. By law, she can't tell you that she would suspect

any certain diseases as nurses can't diagnose their patients. Try to

tip-toe her into some more information which might be vital to

talking to the doctor about, or ask her specifically if there is a

certain test she'd like to have done and tell her you'll ask the

doctor about it. You might find that since your child is non-verbal,

she might just be advocating for him and any discomfort he might be

experiencing.

that really isn't required.

btw, kailey has always had VERY formed poop. they're pretty much like big rabbit

turds. in fact, she doesn't wipe and she doesn't even have to and i would not

call that normal at all.
