Guest guest
I am very interested in getting my son evaluated by Dr. Agin. Where is her office and how long is the wait generally. My son is 4.5 years old with severe/profound apraxia - globally. He is delayed in almost all areas of development and I would like to have him offically evaluated to make sure we are doing everything we can for him He has been getting therapy, both through the school and private since he was 18 months old and over the last 6 months has developed about 10 word approximations he will use on a daily basis, along with signs and PECS. Also I would love to hear of anyone whose child did not really start talking till closer to 5. I am really starting to worry will never talk. Guest guest
Hello Michele, My son, Peyton is 4.6 years and still does not talk. Over the past few months he has really seemed to progress with sounds. It took over a 1 1/2 years for him to make a sound with using a consonant. He is mastering b,d,k right now. He tries soooo hard. He also began ST at 19 months. I never imagined it would take this long and we have such a long way to go. Peyton has severe verbal and oral apraxia. His school he has progressed so much. I see it but I just want to hear is angelic voice!! We are getting a communication device for him any day. When were testing them it truly helped with his frustration I hope it comes soon. Keep your chin up - I know its hard I worry how long too but I force myself to take it day by day ! Goodluck - just wanted to let you know we are in the same boat! Guest guest
Hi . This is my first time to respond to anyone on this board, because to be honest, these parents have so much more information than I. I have really been learning a lot! I wanted to let you know though, that I called Dr Agin's office to make an appointment for my 3.5 years daughter. The woman who answered the phone was very kind and wanted me to start her on supplements right away, which I did. I guess I called about a month ago and was told that I would hear from them over the summer to schedule an appointment. From that time, it could be anywhere within the next 6 months was my understanding. Also, the evaluation is expensive, we have started saving now for when we get the appointment. I am very excited to see her though. My daughter was diagnosed with Apraxia, and since I have started studying Apraxia, I really do not think this is what she has. It will be wonderful to see an authority on the subject so that we can make sure we are doing the right things for her. To everyone else, thanks for letting me listen in. You are all wonderful. I am new to all of this and hope that soon I may have things to offer this group as all of you do. One question if I may, what is a DAN doctor? Thanks again, Kari (mother of 3, a beautiful daughter and 2 great little boys!) [ ] Evaluation - Dr. Agin I am very interested in getting my son evaluated by Dr. Agin. Guest guest
Michele, We waited 8 1/2 months to see her. At first I was told we would be put on a waiting list & if something opened up, we would get a call. I will say it was well worth both the wait & money. Our visit was 100 % out of pocket. > > > I am very interested in getting my son evaluated by Dr. Agin. Where > is her office and how long is the wait generally.
