Guest guest
You need to carefully avoid grapes, no idea about melon. Alice I hadn't any fruit for months because when I tried a few pieces of cantaloupe and grapes my BS#s went flying and scared me. The most important thing I have learned since being diagnosed with diabetes is that there is no one that can tell me what to eat or not to eat. I can eat things that other people cannot, other people eat things that I can't. My monitor tells me what I can eat and cannot eat. (chicken little > here) > As fruits go, grapes are better than average in sugar content and glycemic index. A rather large 1 cup serving has 25-30 grams of carbs. The glycemic index of grapes is about 45, below average for fruits. Of course, you always need to see how you react individually, so I would never tell someone to avoid any food other than concentrated sweets based solely on how I react. Guest guest
Yeah, that's so true. I can eat and handle grapes better than an apple. Only I have a problem limiting myself cuz I love them so much. hehe Re: my doctor said grapes are FULL of sugar To: diabetes > As fruits go, grapes are better than average in sugar content and > glycemic index. Guest guest
My doctor said the same thing. Even plums, peaches, and nectarines are high in sugar. That's bad because I am a big fruit eater. chakajo75 GlassArtist@... wrote: Yeah, that's so true. I can eat and handle grapes better than an apple. Guest guest
Cherries. And I can eat them. The list says they have a very low glycemic index fpr fruit, I don't know if that really means much, but I can eat them. I count them and do not overdo it, of course. It would be very hard if I couldn't have them. Jan Jan Hodges http://www.greentwo.com > Yeah, that's so true. I can eat and handle grapes better than an > apple. Guest guest
For some reason apricots don't effect me to much, maybe the fiber content is different? Donna My doctor said the same thing. Even plums, peaches, and nectarines are high in sugar. That's bad because I am a big fruit eater. chakajo75
