Hi , I eat some sugar-free desserts, but when I make cookies, I'll eat one or two of them without any problems. I'll have a couple bites of cake or pie. I usually eat a small piece of chocolate every day. There are no foods that I avoid, some I just eat in small amounts. hugs Eunice

Guest guest
Hi Eunice, I am trying to lose some weight, and maybe, just maybe, get off some of this medication for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. And also stop some of these effects of Neuropathy. I have lost around 15 pounds since last November. I was taking Metformin 1000 MG, 2 times a day, and Amaryl 2 MG, taking 1/2 tablet twice a day. I have just recently been able to quit half of the Amaryl, and am now taking only 1/2 tablet once a day. Okay, back to the subject of potatoes. I am just on a regular diabetic diet. I can't however eat a whole baked potato without getting a high reading 2 hours after I eat. What I do is cut the potato in half and eat the other half at the next meal. I do the same thing with oranges. I eat just about everything, but eat less of those things that make my blood glucose reading too high. - Pam On Tue, 20 Jun 2006 22:17:41 EDT ERWachter@... writes: In a message dated 6/20/2006 10:07:13 P.M. Hi Pam, I was on diabetes meds and 2 meds for high blood pressure, but once I lost the weight, I " lost " the meds. I am on meds for cholesterol and will probably have to remain on that. I am taking a med, Femara, that can cause higher cholesterol and it did for me. hugs Eunice

Hi Sharon, Once in awhile I'll get a high number, but that is to be expected. People without diabetes get high number occasionally, so I should expect to get them, I have diabetes. The other day after lunch I had a reading of 141. I have eaten the same food for lunch and got a reading of 110. What was the difference, I don't have a clue. Will I eat that lunch again? I will the next time we go to that restaurant. If I stopped eating foods because I got a high number, there would be very few foods that I could eat. I realize there are so many other things than food that will cause my bg's to be high. There are some foods I eat less of, but there are no foods that I will give up. Guest guest
I think I am beginning to understand that Eunice has learned how to NOT let things in general bother her which is why she is happy and healthy and diabetes does not run her. I try to learn from reading between her lines on every post she gives us! JUDITH > Eunice I dont think anything ever bothers your sugars. > -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
Food is not the only thing that causes blood sugar to go up. I was in the hospital for four or five days hardly eatting anything. I could not understand why my sugar was spiking over 200. The doctor said the stress the operation placed on my body could cause my body to produce the extra count in my sugar. They told us in class that starving yourself just won't do to control your levels. I don't have anybody elses answers & I usually don't have mine. I guess thats why were all here.
