I thought that I would lose at least 20-25 pounds a month. I hear all the people talking and the amazing weight losses and I am wondering why my loss is so slow. I know it will stay off but still... > Arlene > Re: Barbara - We can do it! > > > Arlene--I think that is an awesome weight loss. Guest guest
Arlene-- 44 pounds in 10 weeks! That's super!!! That's almost 4-1/2 pounds per week! Way to go! We need to learn to stop comparing our numbers with those of others (that includes myself too!). I tended to do that until I thought about how far I really have come. I said something similar whan my weight loss was at about 47 pounds. My daughter, who is a nanny, said " Mom, 47 pounds that's great! Zach weighs 30 pounds and le weighs 13 pounds so you lost a 4 year old and an 8 month old plus 4 more pounds! That's wonderful! " That really help put things into perspective. When was the last time I lost more weight than 2 kids? Now I think about how much better I feel and as long as the pounds come off I am not complaining. Keep up the good work! Rev. Pam in PA Barbara - We can do it! Barbara - I have been on the plateau from H - E - double hockey sticks too!!!! Yesterday, I was so discouraged as I was up a pound again, now today I am a half pound away from the century club. So I'm back to being determined and psyched! I know, I'm one to talk, but maybe you stop weighing yourself every day. Do as I Say, not as I DO! Or even if you only weigh weekly, try and wait 2 weeks. During that 2 weeks, keep a food diary, bump up your water and protein, and exercise. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the end of the 2 weeks. C'mon Barbara, we can do it! Guest guest
The myoplex sounds fine. Given that we don't absorb more than 30g of protein at a whack, you could use just half a serving at one time and be ok. The sugar is ok, half a package would be 145 calories, and that would work. So you're fine on the shakes - if you're proximal, 2-3 a day isn't going to do anything but help you. But yes, you're in the same boat I am with age. I'm 57, so I know exactly what you mean . And then I have wierd times when all of a sudden I'll start holding water and my ankles swell - not nearly as bad as they did pre-wls, but they do still swell occasionally. Exercise at this point also throws my weight loss out. When you exercise, you stress or make microtears in the individual muscle fibres and they draw water into them to cushion themselves as they heal. Then as they heal, they get stronger - so ultimately when you exercise, and you don't have the water weight gain. But you gotta get through the first part before you get to the second part . I think you're doing GREAT, girl. Pam Barbara - We can do it! Barbara - I have been on the plateau from H - E - double hockey sticks too!!!! Guest guest
Arlene, honey you can't compare your self to the others, you'll just drive yourself crazy. I'm actually glad I don't own a scale. The thing with the calories, is that you have to take so much in or your body thinks it's starving. When I was able to eat for those few days, I took in practically nothing. And my weight loss stood still for a couple of weeks until things got better plus I was able to hydrate myself, and take nourishment. Guest guest
HI Pam. Its strange you mentioned ankles. Mine used to be like balloons. Now they swell, but not as bad. I will try to exercise more. Thanks for the encouragement. Arlene Barbara - We can do it! Barbara - I have been on the plateau from H - E - double hockey sticks too!!!! Guest guest
Hi . I did go to fitday. I calculated about 700 or less including the shakes. Hard to do because I don't eat a whole portion of the food. Compared to what I used to eat it is amazing I haven't lost more. Oh well!!! Guest guest
Remember on fitday you can type in .5 or .3 or whatever for the size of the portion... Sharon in D.C. Re: Barbara - We can do it!
