Guest guest
Barbara - I have been on the plateau from H - E - double hockey sticks too!!!! Yesterday, I was so discouraged as I was up a pound again, now today I am a half pound away from the century club. So I'm back to being determined and psyched! I know, I'm one to talk, but maybe you stop weighing yourself every day. Do as I Say, not as I DO! Or even if you only weigh weekly, try and wait 2 weeks. During that 2 weeks, keep a food diary, bump up your water and protein, and exercise. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the end of the 2 weeks. C'mon Barbara, we can do it! Guest guest
I went to doctor yesterday. I lost 44 lbs. in 10 weeks. I am discouraged. I don't eat that much. I spoke to his nutritionist. She said to cut out one protein drink. I find the drink helps with hunger. She said I don't need that much protein. I think she is wrong. I can't drink the full 12 oz. - 16 oz. they say to mix with package. I drink 1/3 of packet. I thought with the amount of food I am not eating, I would be losing more. I do have a slow metabolism and take thyroid medicine. I'm not giving up but I feel kind of down. I walk the dog around the block but my knees give out so I cant do that much. Guest guest
Arlene, You have to eat to lose, I'm not sure how many calories you're taking in, but try upping them and mix your protein in less water and see what happens. Deb

Guest guest
I have spent the last 4 months getting to 44 lbs. That's 16 weeks. As vitamom says, Throw away the scales! As long as you're doing what you need to be doing, drinking 64 oz of water, getting some exercise in, and getting your protein in, you WILL lose weight. Maybe not as fast as a 27 year old who started at 300 lbs, but you will lose weight. It's dependent on: How high your weight was when you started The length of your bypass Your age How much water How much exercise Staying away from the bad carbs. What protein drinks are you using? Do they have sugars? Or more than 6 sugars per 30 gms of protein serving? Are you using MILK? That adds more sugars. Not saying milk is bad for everyone, but for some of us, Milk stops the weightloss flat out. Good luck! (and now, since you know someone who is losing even slower than you are, you can feel a bit better ) Pam in Niceville Barbara - We can do it! Guest guest
I know the feeling, Arlene. That was me yesterday. Don't give up, hon! It took me 3 months to lose 50 pounds and you are right on track for that. I think you should stick with the protein drinks where you're at, not decrease by one, and if anything increase your food a little bit, and also your water and exercise. Maybe you're not eating enough to keep your metabolism moving. Keep a food diary to see where you're at. Jeanne in WI Age 39 - Dr. T. Chua Open RNY - 5/21/02 5'7 " - 314/215/150-175 djgraves@... Guest guest
Barbara- Have you ordered samples from Vitalady? If the answer is yes, and you didn't like what you ordered, then you need to order some more. If the answer is no, then I really gotta tell you that her protein drinks are so much better than what's out in the stores. Get off the pot, and get goin' girl! Jeanne in WI Age 39 - Dr. T. Guest guest
Hi Pam. I use myoplex low carb protein shake. It says use 16 oz of water. I get about 3 -4 shakes out of one package. It has 2g sugar, 9g carbs and 50g protein and 290 calories. I am 59 and started out at 321. My doctor says my age also is against me. Thanks for the encouragement. Arlene Barbara - We can do it!
