Guest guest
Am blood fasting was 131 which is the lowest it has been in a while. For bf I had one of those lc yougurt drinks that I doctored with flax oil, and pysillium, had 1/2 of a MINI whole wheat bagel with peanut butter and strawberry preserves sweetened with splenda. Two hours later I was 189 ugh!! sharon
Guest guest
Hi Sharon, That is an increase of 58, I am pretty sure that would happen to me if I ate that 1/2 mini bagel, the peanut butter and strawberries. Any kind of wheat flour does that to me, doesn't matter if it is whole wheat, and it doesn't take much. I found a kind of bread whose first ingredient is cracked wheat that I can eat, but only one slice. It is called Orowheat Master's Best winter wheat. It has no ground wheat only cracked wheat, and the second ingredient is water and the third is sunflower seeds. The fourth is brown sugar, but I can still eat one piece of it without a big increase. It is pretty good too. But fruit does it too unless it is a tiny amount, and you don't say what was in the peanut butter. I don't know about the yogurt drink, I haven't experimented much with yogurt. Yet. I am going to experiment with baking with oat flour, but haven't really gotten that started yet. Rye is a tad better than wheat, but can only be used for bread or crackers. Try one rye crisp with organic peanut butter with no sugar added and see if that works better. I can eat one of those, but not three. Not sure about two. I'm not taking any pharmaceuticals yet, just diet and a couple herbals, so I am really watching this. Wheat is really a killer for me, although I am sure everyone is different. I've lost 18 pounds since mid-December, I am so pleased. The one pound I am working on now will move me from being classified as obese to just being fat. And my A1c went from 7.1 to 6.1. My average fasting bs is down a lot. Jan Jan Hodges http://www.greentwo.com ugh Am blood fasting was 131 which is the lowest it has been in a while. Hi Sharon, It could have been the bagel that caused the high. I've heard several people say they cannot eat bagels. I eat a slice of home made bread or Nature's Own double fiber bread with peanut butter and raw honey or with the preserves sweetened with splenda and get normal readings. Did you feel differently with the high reading of 189? After having diabetes for this long, I have learned that a high reading doesn't always come from what I ate. Sometimes, it could be a faulty strip. I never give up a food after one high reading. If I did, there probably would not be much food that I would eat. I'll make some adjustments. If I had eaten this meal and gotten a high number, the next time I would switch the bagel for a slice of whole wheat bread. We have had members that would toast their bread or bagel and it would not affect their bg's as much as if it was not toasted. I believe Sara Lee now has a low carb bagel. You may want to check into that. hugs Eunice
Guest guest
Thank you Jan for your insights I do appreciate it and I am printing your email and will look for that bread. Peanut butter toast has been a staple for me for bf am wondering what do you eat for bf than? Btw there was nothing in the peanut butter it was laura smiths. sharon Re: ugh Hi Sharon, It is called Orowheat Master's Best winter wheat. Guest guest
I want to say ugh too. Since my surgery I just can't get my blood sugars back to where they were before surgery. Yesterday morning it was 223, then before lunch it was 249, and before supper 98. At bedtime it was 110 so I thought maybe I just wasn't eating enough. I forced myself to eat a whole BLTon T for supper. This morning it was 177. I'm beginning to think it's more from the pain than the food. Had terrible leg pains during the night and still have them but can't take another pain pill for a while. I still have no appetite and have to force myself to eat. My stomach always feels upset. A no-no food settled it one day, some really salty potato chips. Didn't need many. This morning all I had was 2 bites of a donut and a cup of coffee. I'll be seeing my doctor soon so will discuss it with him. One good thing, I lost 10 pounds. Lois Re: ugh In a message dated 5/18/2006 5:03:21 P.M. Once the pain is gone, you will be back to normal. hugs Eunice

Guest guest
Hi , My name is Luana and I am a new member. I have had severe pain in my legs and feet and left shoulder. About a month ago my doctor prescribed a drug called Cymbalta and the pain in my legs and feet went away. I don't give the medicine all of the credit but it sure is nice to be able to sleep better. Is the pain caused by your diabetes or does it just aggravate it? Take care, Luana --- dannyandshawn@...> wrote: > > > > > > > In a message dated 5/19/2006 10:03:32 A.M. I found out about my high # when I thought my carpal tunnel came back, my ortho dr. found it. I know at 35 I feel like 70 on some days. My feet tingle so bad in am, that I can't stand on them. Also have days when I can't raise my hands over my head to dry my hair, How can you tell if it's the diabetes or something else? Like everything else about this I'm not sure. I was taking flexeril but it just puts me to sleep so I will ask my dr. about the other Thank you.> > > > > > > > > >
