Hi Margaret Great news. Hopefully you will not have to go on more meds. hugs Eunice
Guest guest
I am going to try some protein in the middle of the night and see if that helps. I am afraid to try crackers or milk because when I last ate bread, my BS went up to 260. I am trying to follow a modified Atkins program, and my FBS is improved at 140s in the morning, compared to 302 last week, but I know I can get it lower, just need to work on this. It is running in the 90s to 130s during the day, compared to 160 to 260 a week ago. Thanks. I am learning a lot about this disease. Also, great news. The doc called today and reviewed all my test results and said to wait, they think getting my BS under control might take care of my high cholesterol and other blood fats, so they want to wait a month before rechecking and putting me on meds. Maybe a little turkey... they say the tryptophan in it helps you sleep (at least that is the urban legend)... But I guess according to Snopes it's not true ;-) http://www.snopes.com/food/ingredient/turkey.asp Mike

Sounds like you have a good idea on what is working. Good news from the dr's office. I do not do well on any breads myself. I don't even miss them anymore. Guest guest
I wish my Doctor had either the time or inclination to call me. When I suggest that I submit my results by email I am considered to be from another planet. We have a system now whereby an appointment is made with a surgery and you get to see whichever doctor happens to be free. This has been adopted to ensure that everyone gets to see a doctor if the matter is urgent on the day that they call which is the good part I suppose. But I circumvent the system when the matter is not urgent by calling the surgery and asking when my doctor will be on call and then remember to call that day. Take care. Barry UK I would like to thank everyone for the input. > Also, great news. Barry, that sounds annoying... but you have at least 'figured out' the system! ;-) My doctor won't take the email, but has no problem getting a fax. When I started insulin, I faxed him my blood sugars each week, and his nurse would call me back later that day with the changes he wanted me to make. We did this weekly for almost 2 months... until we were both happy with what was going on (and until I told him I was quite comfortable with my treatment and I could alter things myself if needed). He did these reviews for two months for free too! Mike
Guest guest
I'm lucky with the endocrinology practice I go to. There is my endo (and a couple of others to back him up), nurse practicioners, nurse educators, pychologist, and nutritionists. Every week we can call in our BS#s if our dr wants us to. Mine says I don't have to but if I go to 170 for 3 days straight and don't go down I MUST call him as I am diet controlled and not on any meds. The nutritionist works on emails in between visits and the nurse educator has called me at 7PM when I freaked when the glucometer broke and I didn't understand what I was supposed to do. Finally found a practice that actually helps patients! JUDITH > > > I wish my Doctor had either the time or inclination to call me. Guest guest
All I can comment is GOOD I wish it were true for all us but that would be utopia. Take care. I am on 5mg Glipizide twice a day and I range anywhere from 108-120 in the morning to 80-100 at night. Is your vision playing tricks with you? My vision got blurry for about a week. I couldn't read the paper, and it scared me. I later found out that it was just my body reacting to the lower sugar levels. Keep up the good work!
