I could not believe my eyes when I read your post and another which had

apparently bona fide cardiologists at supposedly reputable hospitals/medical

centers actually opening their mouths to tell patients to pray or to be better

Christians and this would cure their afib. I am nonplussed by this. Both of

these doctors should be reported immediately to the local medical association -

this is *not* their business, nor is it professionally appropriate under any

circumstances. I would find this sort of religious buttinsky stuff to be

offensive coming from an acquaintance or even a friend. From a *doctor* who is

responsible for your care, it is unconscionable.

Unbelievable!

If he thought more before he opened his mouth, he would be a better

doctor.

I'm not quite sure how far this topic would go; but we would ask that you

once again look over our group's Guidelines. The Guidelines are posted on

a regular basis (once a month), and they are also provided to all new

members who join us.

Paragrapah 4 of our Guidelines reads as follows:

(snip) we ask that religion (snip) be discussed off the Board; your

Moderators reserve the right to delete/edit/modify without notice to you.

Saying a prayer for a fellow afibber is one thing, but going off on a topic

of *Religion* in general is quite another.

I don't think any of us were talking about religion specifically... We were just

discussing some outrageous comments made by doctors! It would be no different

than saying a doctor told us if we stared at the moon for an hour each night we

wouldn't have afib. My own point was simply that I do not want any doctor

blaming my non-physical behavior or lack there of, for my afib.

I've been monitoring this Board too long not to realize that anything

along these lines can take on another life of its own. My thought was

to nip any such discussion (whatsoever) in the bud.

If you wish to discuss this topic any further, please direct your

message to the Moderators only ------

Thank you,

Ellen

Actually, even though our guidelines are right on about religion, I agree

with you on this one, Stef, didn't feel that it was a particularly religious

question, and not offensive in any way that I could see.

of free speech.
